Actually bikkle, Apple makes a 12in powerbook that comes with a DVD burner.

So THAT is the smallest laptop with a DVD burner.

The 12" Powerbook has the heat problem as it is. A G4 in an aluminum case that small is just asking for trouble. I've got the 12" iBook, and it can be quite the lapwarmer at times, just form the hard drive. The CDR doesn't generate that much more heat on its own.
