you. idiot. the conventional military battlefield is only one arena in which wars are fought.

1. economic sanctions against japan would destroy your economy within a matter of weeks if not days. wouldn't take long for this place to start lookin like north korea. meh, parts of it do anyway.

2. information warfare. ever heard of it? would suck to see all those pages from the "1994 school of web design" and other vital networks shut down, wouldn't it?

3. china.

thankfully, in all likelihood cooler and more rational people would prevail.

US urges Japan to stop whale kill

Posted Tue Nov 20, 2007 8:07am AEDT
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/11/20/2095300.htm?section=justin
The United States has urged Japan to refrain from this year's whale hunt in the Antarctic Ocean and warned all sides to make sure planned protests stay peaceful.

Despite western protests, Japan's whaling fleet set off on Sunday towards the Antarctic for a hunt for humpback whales and fin whales.

Though the hunt was legal under the international whaling convention, US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said "we note that non-lethal research techniques are available to provide nearly all relevant data on whale populations".

"We call on Japan to refrain from conducting this year's hunt, especially in respect to humpback and fin whales.

Australia released grisly surveillance pictures of the slain carcasses of two whales being hauled aboard a ship, stepping up its campaign Thursday against Japanese whaling in Antarctic waters.

On Thursday morning I woke to see photographs taken by an Australian customs vessel in the whale sanctuary in the waters of Antarctica. A dead female minke whale, with its dead calf by its side, was being hauled into a Japanese whaling ship.

I would like to tell the Japanese government's "Department of Death and Destruction" (otherwise known perhaps by more official names like the cetacean studies department) that its politicians have blood on their hands. Do they feel proud of killing female whales that either are pregnant or have young calves swimming next to them? In civilized societies the killing of females and their children is morally unacceptable. The politicians' support and actions in this matter now paint greater Japan with one brush as morally unacceptable.

There are many Australians who would like our government to send warships to the whale sanctuary to prevent access by Japan's whaling ships. Personally I would support such action.

Madness Aussie
Why can this dude distinguish whether this two whales are parent and child or not? Whuh? As if this article was written by cult believer. And if Aussies want to start against Japan, Japan is pleased to accept the war.

Because we all know how well the last war ended for Japan, right? :p

Indeed - how could he possibly have access to the Japanese Whale Research Database, which would most certainly have that information available? Access to the database is only given to friends-of-the-research. Weren't you at their last meeting in Shibuya's Kujira-ya?

"Japan is pleased to accept the war."

We know from past experience FUCKWIT how ready and willing japan are to bully less military powerful countries. but you wouldn't have learnt it that way!!

Its an emotional issue on both sides, truth is if japan wants to hunt whales fair enough, just do so in japans waters.

Japan protects its exclusive economic fishing zones with military zeal, sinking Korean/Chinese vessels at will. however they want to travel the four corners of the world to prop up a old boys industry and national pride, thats whats its really about!

Most people don't even like it anyway its being forced on the population by the old boy fishing industries and the right wing Government.

Japanese Open Fire on Sea Shepherd Crew: Three Injured

Captain Paul Watson Shot in Chest; Cameraman and Crewmember Injured by Flash Grenades

At 1545 hours (0445 GMT), a clash between the crew of the Sea Shepherd vessel Steve Irwin and the Japanese whaling ship Nisshin Maru turned violent when the Japanese Coast Guard began to throw flash grenades at the crew of the Steve Irwin.

Captain Paul Watson was struck by a bullet in the chest. Fortunately, the bullet was stopped by his Kevlar vest. The bullet struck just above the heart and mangled Captain Watson’s anti-poaching badge, which was worn on his sweater underneath the Kevlar vest. more

I wouldn't be surprised if somebody got hurt because of they way BOTH idiots are behaving (Japan whalers & Aussie protesters)
antarctic oceans are hazardous enough as it is without idiots throwing shit at each other just to make a point

They are all behaving like apes not sea captains, won't be long before some crazy shit happens and some poor sob mari guys are fucking dragged out rising their lives to rescue all their sorry asses
if they all continue to behave this way then everyone deserves to have their ship confiscated

Just to clear something up

Postby ColinizeR » Sun Mar 09, 2008 11:29 pm

The crew of the protest vessel are international....mostly from the US, Canada, Europe and yes, some Australians. As an Australian, I feel I must point the finger at other nationalities who also participate in this foolishness.

Also, the waters are only acknowledged as being Australian by four countries in the world. I reckon it will become a free for all as resources run out everywhere else....I reckon Antarctica will become a bone of contention in another ten years or so as well...Australia claims about 40% of Antarctica I think....

And I claim the rest as mine! When the world runs out of ice, you will have to kowtow to me to keep your Moscow Mules cold. I'm not actually sure whether ice is a critical ingredient in a Moscow Mule, nor why I chose that particular drink to unleash my 60% Antartican manifesto.
