Yosuke Yamashita Burning Up The Ivories

Yosuke Yamashita plays a piano in flames on the shore of Shika town in Ishikawa Prefecture. Part of an event called "Burning Piano 2008". Yamashita performed the same work 35 years ago and his friend, graphic designer Kiyoshi Awazu who was also on hand this time, recorded the event:

That youtube clip is so typical of the way Japanese present music be it TV or radio: they never shut the fuck up and listen to it. It sounded like that guy had some kind of hip Cecil Taylor thing working though

My theory about this is that they are getting payola from the music companies to make it difficult to record things off the radio.
