World Cup base operators getting major headaches

World Cup base operators getting major headaches
Man, what a bunch of whiney bitches. Here are some quotes:
Furious municipal government operators of base camps for World Cup teams are blaming cultural differences for the myriad problems they've faced in recent days

Yeah, okay, but listen to the "problems" they've encountered:
Original plans called for the Cameroon team to arrive at Fukuoka Airport from Paris at 1 p.m. on Sunday. However, as the charter plane due to carry the team to Japan was late in arriving in Paris, the arrival was put back to late Sunday night. Upon learning that Fukuoka Airport was unable to accept arrivals after 10 p.m., the plane's landing had to be postponed until Monday morning

Now how is that "cultural differences"? Maybe if some of these hicks had travelled internationally before, they'd know what problems these teams encounter.
Most upsetting for the organizers was a practice match between the African team and a team made up of local high school students. Over 3,000 boys applied to take part in the game

Is this the World Cup or a circus event? If I was on the Cameroon team, I'd "arrange" to be late as well. Maybe some of these hosts should look in the mirror about these "cultural differences".

More idiocy

Postby cstaylor » Mon May 20, 2002 11:14 pm

On Sunday, Costa Rica was supposed to hold a clinic for elementary school pupils in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, but the event was scaled down because fewer players than expected took part as they were tired following a Saturday night practice match

This is the World Cup, not Barnum and Baileys. What did they expect, that the teams would risk non-game injuries entertaining a bunch of kids? These are world-class athletes representing their home countries in the mother of all football matches, and all these hosts can do is complain.
"We know we should not expect these people to think exactly as we would, but I suppose what we perceive as a lack of courtesy is a different type of culture," an official said.

Yeah, in some cultures it's considered rude to volunteer to host a team of gaijin and then expect them to perform circus tricks

Change of plans

Postby kamome » Tue May 21, 2002 3:48 pm

Yeah, the Japanese absolutely hate it when plans change. They get all flustered and can't handle a new situation at all. I've been in situations where things were planned to the minutest detail, and I know you just can't plan for every contingency. This is a manifestation of why Japan has so many problems adapting its economy to the changing business environment--they didn't plan for it.

Wanna See My 'Cultural Difference'?

Postby GuyJean » Tue May 21, 2002 5:06 pm

How many times did you read 'cultural difference' in those excuses... They need a boot to the head.

I like how they make 'cultural difference' sound derogatory..

"My spoiled littlle, manga jackoff can't dribble with professional athletes.".. On the other hand. "Sure, I'll eat mad beef. Sure, I'll pay for politicians whores. Sure, I'll eat mislabeled chicken. Sure, I'll watch the economy turn to shit. How could I ever consider disturbing the fucking WA!"

Slaves! You're all fucking slaves!

(Ok. I'm better)
