This really has nothing to do with whales, but I kinda feel bad after toasting Takechan for being a grade-AAA idiot so often, that I figured he could use this to "bait Aussies". I do not condone the seizure of innocent pot plants by cops in any country, but do feel that it should be hunted on the open seas and brought to me for research purposes.

SYDNEY, Australia — An Australian man's complaint of an break-in at his home went to pot Friday when police arrested him for growing marijuana.

The 35-year-old man in the central Australian city of Adelaide called police to report that six men had broken into his house through a window and stolen parts of his cannabis plants, South Australia Police said.

Police were unable to find the intruders but brought a drug warrant to search the home, where they found six large cannabis plants growing in two bedrooms, police said in a statement.The man was charged with cultivating cannabis for sale.

"Members of the public are reminded that the growing of cannabis is not only illegal but can also attract other criminal activity such home break-ins and assaults," the statement said.

I agree with that but I think it is worth pointing out that there are plenty of right wingers who also talk about both issues without having read current historical research. There are people with "private resentments" on all sides of the debate. It's also important to note that Japanese and foreign historians don't work in a vacuum: oral testimonies and documents are in Chinese, Tagalog, German, English and Korean as well as Japanese with probably a few other languages in the mix so the best picture we can get needs to consider all of this. Japanese historians have probably worked most on integrating these views but their political opinions and conclusions cover the whole spectrum so it isn't a case of "Japan versus the World".
