Do you live in Japan? If yes, please could you help...

Postby omfgski » Wed Mar 19, 2008 10:35 pm

Hi!

I hope this is allowed but I'm doing a piece of coursework about the opinions of people who live in Japan or who come from japan regarding the cities they lived in there and just wondered if anyone wants to answer some questions for me?

I've added them below so if you can spare the time and want to fill it in, just post your answers below or pm me.

Thanks!

Questions

1. Which Japanese city do you live in/come from? Where is this in Japan?
2. What do you think of the weather in your city?
3. Are there a lot of foreigners? What is the attitude towards foreigners in your city?
4. I have an interest in Japanese culture and history. Are there any places of interest you would recommend in your city?
5. What is going to the cinema like in Japan? Are all the films in Japanese?
6. Are there any local clubs or associations where a foreigner could meet people?
7. What is local business like in the area? Are there a lot of shops?
8. Are there any cultural events or celebrations in your city?
9. What sports are popular in your city?
10. What is it about your city that makes it special?

Let me guess what the title of your "course" is ... "Which city in Japan should I move to 101" ;-)
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Too many questions, but I'm waiting for gf to wake up, take a shower, so we can go to Tokyyu Hands...I need to buy some new casters for my suitcase, which got all fucked up when I used the thing to move last summer (old place and new place are only 5 minutes apart on a very un-well paved road, if you must know). Checked on the net, and most repair places want over 3000 yen/caster to repair the damn thing. Luckily, the two in front are shot and the two in back ain't so bad, so if I get different sizes, it might create a cool low rider image for the suitcase...and as I'm going to LA next month...respeckt, foo.

Questions

1. Which Japanese city do you live in/come from? Where is this in Japan?
come from LA, live in Tokyo...this is in eastern Japan...get a map, motherfucker!

2. What do you think of the weather in your city?
It's a Spring Equinox day, it's a national holiday and it's raining.

3. Are there a lot of foreigners? What is the attitude towards foreigners in your city?
Yeah, there are foreigners. Working on fixing that problem.....:p

4. I have an interest in Japanese culture and history. Are there any places of interest you would recommend in your city?
109, Alta, and if you are over 60, but are fashionable, go to Sugamo.

5. What is going to the cinema like in Japan? Are all the films in Japanese?
It's $18, when is this oral report due? Foreign films are in foreign languages unless they are animated, in which case J-celebs do voiceovers, then there are endless TV specials about the whole thing.

6. Are there any local clubs or associations where a foreigner could meet people?
I stay indoors all the time, people scare me...they have icky things crawling on them.

7. What is local business like in the area? Are there a lot of shops?
I got two conbini, a "speak Japanese or die" izakaya, and an antique store within looting range.

8. Are there any cultural events or celebrations in your city?
Yeah, ther was some kid's omatsuri thing in my hood in late summer. Some kid pointed at me, when I was leaving my place, and asked his mom, "What's that?"

9. What sports are popular in your city?
Depends on the sobriety state of the contestants. I think drunk salarimen piss for accuracy, not distance, like Americans do.

10. What is it about your city that makes it special?
I am here and I am so benevolent that I let others assume that they are in control of their lives, when it is in fact, I alone who pulls all the strings.

1. Which Japanese city do you live in/come from? Where is this in Japan?
I live in Tsukuba and yes please get a map (east coast).
2. What do you think of the weather in your city?
It's cold and it is raining at the moment. Summer is full of bugs..because of the shitload of trees.fall is the best season.
3. Are there a lot of foreigners? What is the attitude towards foreigners in your city?
There are supposed to be around 1000 foreigner in the Uni alone, most of them chinese and koreans. Westeners might be around 100 tops.We only meet in bars and barely remember their names or conversations...But most japanese here are used to the Fucked Gaijins..so no proplem there
4. I have an interest in Japanese culture and history. Are there any places of interest you would recommend in your city?
SInce this wretched town was created for the uni, most of the temples are located somewhat distant from the city.Even museums are far.
5. What is going to the cinema like in Japan? Are all the films in Japanese?
Never been to the movies, the Eigakan is 40 mins by bicycle...I watch them online for free.
6. Are there any local clubs or associations where a foreigner could meet people?Yes this town kinda sucks, but we do have pubs and clubs where gaijins drink until drunken stupor levels...
7. What is local business like in the area? Are there a lot of shops? yes...but only one big shopping mall...
8. Are there any cultural events or celebrations in your city? yes, but I never go to any of the matsuri because Im nursing my hangovers.
9. What sports are popular in your city?Tsukuba has a lot of sports clubs...I dont really care for sports and specially the taikubakas....but in most cases if you are not japanese and enrolled at the uni...you might get kicked out of the tennis courts and from most of the university sports areas.
10. What is it about your city that makes it special?
Nothing really...I guess the friends and the boozing around.

1. Which Japanese city do you live in/come from? Where is this in Japan?
Kansai Area. Western Japan.

2. What do you think of the weather in your city?
Very unique. Unlike all other places on the planet, Japan has four seasons.

3. Are there a lot of foreigners? What is the attitude towards foreigners in your city?
There are foreigners around. They are not to be trusted. For the most part, they are HIV positive, violent, drug-pushing, uncultured, disrespectful, arrogant and dangerous sexual predators and criminals. I'd hate to think what they'd get up to in the event of a natural disaster, such as an earthquake or something.

4. I have an interest in Japanese culture and history. Are there any places of interest you would recommend in your city?
There are several interesting red light districts in Osaka - namely around Tobita Cho and Juso. Japanese culture is fantastic.

5. What is going to the cinema like in Japan? Are all the films in Japanese?
Why would you want to go to the movies in Japan when you can watch Japanese television at home. It really is something else, especially the programming on NHK, our trustworthy public broadcaster!

6. Are there any local clubs or associations where a foreigner could meet people?
Yes, by all means, if you come to japan, be sure to hang around exclusively with other foreigners. Mingling with natives is frowned upon.

7. What is local business like in the area? Are there a lot of shops?
There are both kinds of shops in the area where I live: combini AND pachinko parlors!

8. Are there any cultural events or celebrations in your city?
Whereever you go in japan, you will be sure to enjoy the shogatsu holiday. its really fun, 'cause everything is closed, and there is nothing to do except sit around watching Japanese pop music on tv while eating mikan and mochi. its truely orgasmic!

9. What sports are popular in your city?
Upskirting and Chikaning.

10. What is it about your city that makes it special?
The factories.

Good luck with your project dude.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.
Japan is a kingdom of nothingness or emptiness. It is not until you live in Japan for a few years that you can notice this J-nothingness. And when you notice that you never can escape from J-nothingness and will start to curse Japan and Japanese.

(Quoting self) After that post I kinda fell like I was speaking to a 7 year old about 'the truth about Santa Claus'. So let me make this retraction / correction:

Take was born in Hokkaido and and now lives in the Kanto region (where most cunts tend to live!). He is a 'pure Japanese'. His blood is 100% Yamato - all the way baby! Yeah! He eats natto for breakfast, chain smokes, drinks canned coffee, (and has the bad breath to go with it) and is into rape manga.

You got that right and I'm doing my best to do all of them. Actually, it's a lot easier than that proctology clinic they call Kansai:p

Kuro goma ramen powers my intestines! I have no fear of gyoza (tainted, untainted, especially if the meat comes from the pig's taint). At least we, Kansai cunts don't eat okonomiyake with rice...heathens!:p
