Expat Manager in Japan

Postby uchimizu » Thu Mar 27, 2008 6:38 am

Hi,

I apologize in advance if this thread is a duplicate. However, I did not find a better place to put it.

So, there are many questions in this forum about how to get a visa, and how to get a job for people who positively want to come to Japan.

There are also other people who are assigned to Japan without really choosing it, mainly in subsidiaries of foreign groups in Japan. It turns out that while people usually enjoy Tokyo, succeeding in Japan, even in a western-owned company is a big challenge. The best managers in the west are not always the best in Japan, and an assignment there can be a major career breaker.

I had time to think about my experience, and wrote a few key findings over there. I would love to hear your opinion about it, and about your experience.
