Come on, now. Nothing hits the spot like mentai spaghetti.

My wife loves that and tarako and the other disgusting fish egg stuff. We currently have these horrendously disturbing little white fish in our frigde. They're each maybe two times or so the thickness of an earthworm but they are this horrible pale white. It's like having this little dish full of cadavers in the fridge.

The majority of the time when I've eaten yoshoku type food has been when I lived off bento. :D Family Mart had my favorites, but I must have eaten them all. I only been back in the US for 6 months and still can't stop looking for yoshoku type bento (or bentos for that matter) in 7-Eleven or AMPM. withdrawals

It's surprising how many varieties of omu-raisu there are.

Here's the scene from Tampopo when the boy is asked by a tramp what he want to eat. He says omu-raisu so they break into a kitchen to make it.

There is mention of no yashoku restaurant making the Michelin guide. I would be curious if there is one that was close.

Glaring omissions in the article: the curry donut and yakisoba in a hot dog bun.

i love yoshoku. it's awfully rough on the system, but damned if it doesn't taste good. particularly metaiko spaghetti. mmmmm. and i'm not 'against' mayo on your everything.

the goofy thing here is that this is deemed news. 'oh that wacky japan'
