They found one software house who would hire candidates who could beat the interviewer in bowling, darts, karaoke or billiards. Another company who held interviews at the top of Mt. Fuji even made international news. A recent report on Tokyo company Asoblock reveals that a key condition of employment is that you can win three times in a row in a round of janken (scissors, paper, stone). First you have to beat a part-timer, then a full company employee and finally you have to beat the boss. Asoblock says that it isn't enough to be talented, experienced or well-qualified: good employees should also be lucky. They only have 15 employees currently and used the janken test to offer one contract last year with one more for this year's entry. This time, however, they are looking to fill two positions for next April and have made the details of their selection process public.
