For punching a lady lawyer who happened to be the daughter of Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia, a Japanese national is now in hot water. This was after Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan ordered Tuesday the arrest and detention of Isao Tanaka a.k.a. Dick Tanaka for being an undesirable alien. Tanaka, 65, was immediately arrested by airport immigration officials and brought to the office of Libanan Tuesday afternoon...In her affidavit, lawyer Ma. Esperanza Christina Garcia-Codilla [not right], daughter of the incumbent Cebu governor, narrated that the incident between her and Tanaka happened around noon Tuesday at the arrival area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport centennial terminal. Codilla alleged that Tanaka, who shared Philippine Airlines flight PR 848 with her, punched her in the back after complaining that she had placed her pushcart in front of the carousel. When asked why he did it to her, Tanaka sarcastically replied: "Then you can just punch me back." This prompted the woman to call the attention of the airport police who, in turn, sought the help of the NAIA immigration officials who then arrested the Japanese...more...

Perhaps, but why would anyone spend their time targeting this guy for a mere "tap" on the back? It wouldn't be worth the hassle unless real force was used causing some kind of injury (even if mental only).

Aggressive, arrogant oyaji in the Philippines doesn't necessarily equal yakuza, but this seems to more-or-less seal the deal:

You know, hitting someone in the back is one thing, but then turning around and lying about how it's customary to do that in Japan (i.e., because you have the arrogance to assume that stupid filipinos won't know any better and you can pull the wool over their stupid eyes) is worthy of a death sentence.

How can women expect to be taken seriously in this world when they behave this way? Block the path of everyone with their cart, refuse to understand or be persuaded by logic when asked to move, then trip out at the merest of physical contact, and then go run to daddy's government to get their way and punish the man who dared to question her right to inconvenience everyone else.

Well put Slim. Although I wouldn't class all Filipina in this same group, there is a signinficant number that do use this type of tactic and their laws for Defamation of Character are very wide in scope and make it very easy to mess somebody up and bind them to court for the longest. If you are an in country FG, you are placed on diplomatic hold until the case is over, which could take centuries. Tricky Dick Jr., might be lucky if he's just deported.

Sounds to me like they are both on power kicks. Reading between the lines, chick was standing where she wanted to and didn't move when asked. How she was asked may have determined her stand - if he grunted at her them she may have just thought "fuck you" and stood her ground and then that pissed him off even more and he punched her. Then he tried to drop names to swing his dick and then seriously back peddled when he realised that he had picked the course of action initially.

Really nobody knows what has happened but it sounds like they are both in the wrong. The guy picked the wrong chick to swing his dick around that is for sure. He sounds like a rude arrogant fucker and she sounds like a determined bitch to keep on with the case after an apology.

But travelling to a country for 30 years seriously sounds like a sex tourist.
