The Ikki Harrassment Prevention Committee, part of an NPO set up to counter alcohol and drug problems has produced coasters for people to put on their glass to prevent being plied with alcohol. April sees an influx of new students and new company employees and it's fairly common for them to be challenged to drinking contests at parties as a rite of passage. A victim is usually asked to down a drink in one while others chant "ikki ikki". In recent years, some people have become seriously ill or even died from alcohol poisoning after such parties so several groups have been working to help kohai (juniors) counter the peer pressure from their sempai (seniors). The coasters have four slogans: "I don't do ikki - I like to savour my drink"; "I can't drink - it's not in my DNA"; "I not drinking, I'm driving - so I'm not joining in" and "I'm not drinking, I've got limits - one drink is quite enough".
