'Stumpy' Tsuchida wins the Boston Marathon

Wakako Tsuchida of Japan holds up her trophy after winning the women's division of the Boston Marathon in Boston, Monday April 21, 2008...

Japan swept first place in yesterday's Boston Marathon in both the Women's Wheelchair won by Wakako Tsuchida (1:53:30) and the Men's Wheelchair won by Masazumi Soejima (1:29:16)--bostonmarathon.com
To give you an idea on how fast that is, the handicapped-by-legs record for the Boston Marathon was set by Robert K. Cheruiyot (Kenya), 2:07:14, 2006.

Why is Wakako Tsuchida stupid?

Postby alicia454 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 12:21 pm

Why is does the topic for this thread call Tsuchida stupid? I'm just curious, is she racist or something? (That would be funny considering that most of the extreme right-wing Japanese racists also discriminate against the "worthless" disabled Japanese.) I don't know anything about her or her politics, but as a discriminated gaijin, I do feel a kinship with disabled people in Japan who are also subject to discrimination.

On a side note, she used a racing wheelchair to complete the marathon. A good rider on these can easily outrace a runner, and should be considered a hand-powered bicycle. Personally I would like to eliminate all "wheel-chair" races, which are restricted to disabled athletes, and replace them with hand-powered bicycle races open to all (abled & disabled) athletes, which would make it a real sport. BTW, most of the top wheelchair athletes want the same thing, so that they can be recognized as real athletes. And that would allow them to compete in real international sporting events, such as the Olympics instead of the Pity/Para-Olympics.

Actually many of the unique storing events in disabled games can be modified into real sports that anyone can play. Many years ago, I volunteered at the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind), and we played a fun game called GoalBall, in which all players are completely blindfolded and play a kind of net-less volleyball with 3 on 3 player teams using a ball with bells inside. It was actually a lot of fun, and anyone sighted or not, is allowed to play. It would be nice to see that as added an official Olympic sport as well.

'Stumpy' Tsuchida looks unstupid.

The damn stumpies have all the fucking luck. They win all the major marathon races because of their weight advantage.
More interesting is that is it only a matter of time until Olympic kayaking events will be dominated by those unencumbered with useless legs.

My bad. :redface2: I can't believe that I mistook stumpy for stupid. Sorry about that, looks like I'm the one that stupid today. (I think I need some more sleep and/or caffeine.)

That techo has been through the 7 Levels of Concrete地獄 and is dated Heisei 1.
It gets rather chewed up laid out next to my begging bowl---As long as I display a handicapped techo/ID, it's legal to beg on the streets (really) with my seeing-eye goat.

3 words:

Attractive, young, female

Actually met her when she tried to hit us (me and 3 friends) up for money, ended up having breakfast with her (we paid of course...) and she told us all about how she would hang out begging at different stations everyday and made more money than she did when she was working while attending university.

She lived in a nicer apartment in a nicer area than the two German friends who were with me that day :D

Hmmm, that could be a set back to our operations. We ain't got none of them. Maybe we could get by with Gomi out front.
