Musician In Drugs Bust

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Mainichi: Top musician caught with speed cache
Musician Hiromichi Tsugaki, who has written for top singer Chisato Moritaka and played in the backing band for Lisa Ono, has been arrested on a drug charge, police said. Tsugaki, 53, was arrested for breaking the Stimulants Control Law after he was allegedly found to have used amphetamines. He admits to the allegations. "I was having some personal problems, so I used drugs. I bought them off a foreigner in Roppongi a few days ago," he told police. Police said officers stopped and questioned Tsugaki in Shinjuku-ku early on Friday and found a vial containing amphetamines in his car. A test for drug use turned up positive.

It is amazing how a guy who knows enough to have the stock drug bust answer "Got it from a Roppongi gaijin", would have consented to let them search his car in the first place"....

You would assume that he was out of it which prompted the police to target him in the first place. Or else he tried the old "Sure you can search" bluff and it backfired. That's what happened to the writer Novala Takemoto when he was caught in possession in Shinjuku. I assume the "Roppongi gaijin" line is an excuse people use to avoid having to identify anyone specifically further up the drug chain.

 No one starts using drugs because they are having 'personal problems'. The personal problems come later.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

you mean personal problems like making blanket statements that you can never verify?
surely there have been people who start using drugs because they have been going through hard times (as an example, look at recovering alcoholics who get back on/off the wagon due to ill fortune).. im not saying that this wont lead to MORE personal problems, but it can definitely be a catalyst.
