Postby Mulboyne » Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:03 pm

Kyodo via Japan Today: U.S. Navy to conduct mental check of 20,000 personnel in Japan
The U.S. Navy in Japan will start conducting a survey on the life attitude and mental state of about 20,000 of its military and civilian personnel in May, following a spate of crimes including the murder of a taxi driver allegedly by a Navy seaman in March, U.S. military sources said Tuesday. Such a background check will be the first conducted by the U.S. military in Japan. After analyzing the effectiveness of the survey, the U.S. Forces Japan will examine the possibility of conducting similar surveys on members of the Air Force and Army as well as Marines, the sources said...Any member perceived to have a problem will be obliged to undergo counseling and other special education programs. Should no improvement be made, the person will be transferred back to the United States. A military official has expressed expectations that the survey will help eliminate the potential cause for violent crimes...more...

I think this is a great idea, but I believe it would make more sense to do that as a pre-screening to being stationed over here. I wonder if some of these people had warning signs of metal disorders when there were being recruited even, but were let in do to filling quotas!?

Yes. The last thing you want in the armed forces are people that are prepared to kill other people. Oh, hang on a minute . . . .

They gives ya bunches of tests with big numbers and purty pictures. I did have to take that there IQ one a couple of times befores I passed it, but they was a plenty strict to see that we was a all nice and gentlemanly, before they turned us loose to rape, pillage and plunder and rape again because it was more fun than just pillaging and plundering...
