Is anyone else having problems with live messenger on vista?

Postby CoffeeBoss » Sun May 11, 2008 9:39 pm

Its driving me insane, live messenger just will not work on my laptop, the laptop is only a month old running japanese vista basic and live messenger always gives me a huge error code. I googled the error code and tried all the recomendations from the live site. I've allowed it in the firewall, checked the ports etc etc, ive tried old versions of messengers and the lastest but it still doenst work arghhhhhhh.

I've got a feeling it's to do with the NTT software i had to install for the net :/ bloody NTT i swear are the bain of my life. At the moment i have to use web messenger and thats complete tosh.

Anyone had similar problems?

Have you ever tried any other products that let you use your MSN account and the dotnet protocols?

I use Pidgin as well. It really is nice to have all of my chat accounts (msn, yahoo, google etc) tied into 1 client. Its not as robust as the others, (no ip denwa/video chat etc) but it is clean and it has a very small footprint.

The solution to your problem (and about a bazillion others you will find) is to shit-can Vista and upgrade to Windows XP. Yes, upgrade. Vista is a pile of steaming dog shit that has had a thick coat of paint applied. It's still dog shit, it just looks nice.

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
