[/floatl]Golden Spoon, the California-based frozen yoghurt company, will open its first Japanese outlet at the end of the month opposite Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi. Golden Spoon has 90 sites in the US and the entry to Japan also represents the first overseas expansion for the company. The marketing team chose Roppongi because of its "upscale image" and large foreign population but they also plan to open further stores this year in heavy traffic areas like Tokyo Station. If their concept takes off, they will set up franchising agreements with a target of 100 outlets nationwide in five years. Golden Spoon follow on the heels of other US retailers like Cold Stone Creamery and Krispy Kreme who have made inroads in Japan
