Foreign license conversion (Motorbike not allowed??)

Postby Mr Doricar » Sat Jun 28, 2008 4:37 pm

Hi all,

Went to JAF and got my UK license translated. The guy made me double check all my categories. Had car, motorbike, vehicle with trailer, farm vehicles, etc etc.

The main thing that concerned me was that I definately got my bike license put on the new Japanese one.

Anyway so went to local driving centre. Took all my shit with me...Photocopy of passport, visa page, gaijin card, original license, JAF translation, new photo, 4000 yen etc etc etc...

Anyway, the guy tells me I cant get motorbike added onto my license even though it's clearly on the translation done by JAF. I told him I would come back with my gf (Japanese) so she can help because our conversation was a bit limited.

Anyway, anyone know what's the crack with that?

Also he told me I would only be getting a beginners license and would have to have that sticker on the car.

Is that also true?

Any help would be good.

Thanks all

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhh

The bike I'm after buying is 1100cc. DAMN IT

I hope it's not as expensive as a regular car test fee. Ok, thanks for info
