
Juri Miyawaki has made every effort to reflect the traditional tastes of Britain and her prizewinning tearoom shows she has succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. Her tearoom, Juri's: The Olde Bakery Tea Shoppe, located in the small town of Winchcombe in the Cotswolds in southwest England, won Britain's Tea Guild's Top Tea Place 2008 Award. Miyawaki is the first Japanese to win the prestigious 23-year-old award. Every year, the British tea guild selects the best tea room in the country. "I've added a new twist to traditional tastes," Miyawaki said while serving her version of Victoria sponge cake.
