Pressconnects: How to choose green tea and brew it well
The American Institute for Cancer Research offers the following background information on green tea, types of tea and how to brew them. Green tea is defined as tea that has not been fermented, as black tea is, before the leaves are dried -- and it's not always green in color. Although at least one type of generic green tea, usually packaged in tea bags, is available in most supermarkets, there are dozens of green teas, primarily from China and Japan, to choose from. Japanese green tea varieties are considered the most easily available, although others can also be found in large cities or at Web sites that sell green tea...more...

Research has also shown that marijuana kills cancer cells and reduces tumor growth. This is, in part, because marijuana reduces the formation of blood vessels that nourish tumors.

While some governments are reluctant to approve marijuana for medicinal use, the review noted that there's increasing evidence that marijuana can improve the lives of patients with a broad range of health problems, including insomnia, AIDS, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - A broad coalition of political parties unveiled a pilot program Friday to regulate marijuana farming on the model of tobacco, which opponents say would be tantamount to legalizing growing the drug.

Ill have to have smoked enough for a lifetime before I get one of those 'proper jobs' and the drugtests that start with the interview and all the random ones that follow.

I listened to Noam Chomsky talking about how the US govt made it illegal back in the 30s(?) mostly cause most of the peeps smokin it were Mexican & how the legality of things are all based on public acceptance and the class of the people doing the things.
If only more politicians smoked...

Green tea may protect the aging brain By Amy Norton
Fri Feb 24, 10:35 AM ET

People who regularly drink green tea may have a lesser risk of mental decline as they grow older, researchers have found.

Their study, of more than 1,000 Japanese adults in their 70s and beyond, found that the more green tea men and women drank, the lower their odds of having cognitive impairment.

The findings build on evidence from lab experiments showing that certain compounds in green tea may protect brain cells from the damaging processes that mark conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

But while those studies were carried out in animals and test tubes, the new research appears to be the first to find a lower risk of mental decline among green-tea drinkers, according to the study authors.

They speculate that the possible protective effects of green tea may help explain Japan's lower rate of dementia, particularly Alzheimer's disease, compared with Europe and North America.

Dr. Shinichi Kuriyama and colleagues at Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine report the findings in the current issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The study included 1,003 adults age 70 and older who completed detailed questionnaires on their diets over the previous month, as well as their overall physical health and lifestyle habits. They also completed a standard test of cognitive functions such as memory, attention and language use.

The researchers found that older adults who drank two or more cups of green tea per day were about half as likely to show cognitive impairment as those who drank three cups or less each week. Men and women who averaged one cup per day fell somewhere in between.

The connection between green tea and mental function persisted when the researchers accounted for overall diet and factors such as smoking and exercise habits.

However, the findings cannot demonstrate a cause-and-effect relationship.

The study was observational, not a controlled experiment, and there may be something about green-tea drinkers that explains the link between the beverage and sharper mental function, Kuriyama told Reuters Health.

For example, healthier, more active individuals may simply drink more green tea -- which, in Japan, is often consumed in social settings.

"We think that the potential protective effects of green tea should be confirmed in further studies," Kuriyama said.

Given the high prevalence and heavy burden of dementia, the researchers conclude, any benefit of drinking green tea could have a "considerable" public health impact.

1. It's counterproductive to want I want to do.

2. I smoked it ease pain.

3. I quit smoking to get a great job so I can get legal meds.

4. Potsmoking is incompatible with a military career.

5. It's illegal and it'd be just my luck to get caught and wreck everything I'm trying to accomplish. Law of averages and all that.

I drink two cups in the morning, I drink two cups at night, I drink two cups in the afternoon, it makes me feel all right. I drink two cups in times of peace, and two in times of war, I drink two cups before I drink two cups, and then I drink two more...

Iced marijuana tea to debut in British health food shops Mon Jun 26, 2:23 PM ET

British health food shops will soon be offering customers iced cannabis tea, its Swiss distributor said.

Sold under the label "C-Ice Swiss Cannabis Ice Tea", the beverage contains five percent of hemp flower syrup and a tiny (0.0015 percent) quantity of THC, the active ingredient of marijuana.

Any ingredient that could put it in the drugs category has been removed and the tea will not lead to dependency.

But British anti-drug campaigners say that selling the tea is dangerous because it will give young people the impression that cannabis is commonplace.

The product was launched in Switzerland in 2003 and is already available in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.

Seeds don't have the good old THC, yet. So regardless what all the heads tell you, they're a waste of time.

As for AK's tea, seems like that soggy, it would be it would be difficult to light! It might be good for AO's bong water though!

This is all this Hemp Tea and Hemp Beer presumably. There is a not-so- surprising crossover between the seed ball crowd and this lot.

People make the mistake of thinking of it as 'marijuana' beer (the only true marijuana beer is when someone drops a roach in a beer bottle) rather than 'rope' beer which is a lot closer to the mark.

Gj and I sampled the hemp beer a week ago. Honestly, it was the worst beer I've had - and by a long shot. GJ pretended that it was ok for a few sips but gave up half way through. It tasted like bad candy.

Interesting point about the positive environmental impact of hemp. You would think that with everyone "going green" these days, there would be more discussion of using hemp as a substitute for other materials.
