Bulky Items

Postby Oh!Saka! » Fri Aug 15, 2008 10:51 am

Hello again.

I have a office chair that is falling apart so I am trying to have it picked up by the bulky items garbage pickup.

However, when I called my number and gave them my address (which was repeated back to my correctly), they could not find it even though I live in the middle of the city.

If I just put the chair out without any sticker and collection pickup on it, would I get in any trouble?

I am moving from this residence next week to another part of town so I wonder if they would track me down regarding this or not...

Did you call yourself? If so I would try to get a local(not FG) to make the call for you. Even if you do speak japanese the person on the other end knows you are gaijin by your accent.

I would try having a japanese make the call again and if no one comes to get that shit, load it up in a truck/van/car go for a ride and dump it in the local illegal dump spot[this is usually easy to find]

I don't think me being a foreinger had something to do with her not being able to find the address. She recited it back to me perfectly after i said it.

That's a good idea. I think that is what I will do. Thanks.

I don't want to say that you're wrong, but in my lifer-time here I have found that 99% of the time when there is a communication problem it later turns out to have been my fault. ;) I'd get a local to call.

Breaking the chair down and putting it out with the normal garbage probably won't work. Almost all of the weight of the chair is in the base making it way too heavy to put inside a normal garbage bag.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking

I've done that plenty of times before and never had any problems. I have yet to pay for removal of large items.

You realize that the amount you pay is a few hundred yen per item, right? How much time are you spending to break shit down to avoid the few hundred yen? I suppose if you don't value your time much.......
