Goodbye Kobe Punk.

Hardcore Kitchen, a hardcore and punk record store in Sannomiya will close it's doors on the 25th of August. Carrying a vast amount of cds and vinyl records all stuffed into one room on Toa Road, this place will be sorely missed by many more than just me, I am sure. Comet, the owner and as far as I know sole employee will continue to run an online mail-order store as well as his small record label which has released cds by bands such as The Sprouts, Loser X and Nightmare (not the one on the magazine covers) as well as the Japanese version of a Vendetta(u.s.?) release. This is the only independent punk record store i know of in Kobe (or Hyogo for that matter) and Comet is a very friendly guy who has and will continue to put out some good music. His store and refreshingly un-punk lack of elitism have made my transition to life in Japan easier and noisier. I dont know where i will go now for music or a friendly face.

He is having a goodbye sale with 20-30% off cds and records and tshirts going for 1300 yen. I will make my last trip today. Hopefully one or two of you Osakans will make it out here before the 25th.

Punk is dead. The music industry is dying (good riddance). Say goodbye, go buy a guitar, and make your own music.

I agree but Hardcore Kitchen has nothing to do with the music industry. so, not relevant.
Charles wrote: Say goodbye, go buy a guitar, and make your own music.

I do have a guitar and do make my own music... sooooo, not relevant.

I am always amused at people like you who pick at a rotting corpse and declare it is just taking a nap. It's time to bury it already.

Most of the current so-called "punk" bands, especially Green Day, always reminds me of BeatleMania. Even the real punk bands knew the genre was dead despite their active touring, like when the Ramones released a compilation CD titled "Ramones Mania."

You know they're having a BeatleMania revival, I thought they should call it BeatleManiaMania.

Gee, let's see, punk broke in '77, MTV went on the air in late '81. Punk bands formed the backbone of the first non-corporate indie record labels like Chiswick and Stiff, and never got corporate support (or any airplay).

So much for your pathetic insults.

Punk was our generation's rebellion, not yours. You listening to punk would be like me listening to my father's favorite musician, Lawrence Welk. You just look silly. So let us old corpses rot and go create your own new genre. And get the fuck off my lawn!

no shit.
i was talking about NOW. Your familiarity with current bands seems to be limited to those on the radio/mtv with a corporate label. You would never stumble across the bands i listen to. they dont sound like the ramones or greenday and may not even be recognizable to you as "punk". These are the kinds of bands that make up the vast majority of releases at Hardcore Kitchen.

Yeah, and you're whining about the demise of a fucking record store, a commercial enterprise that sells commercial products.

And what the fuck do you know about what I listen to? I've heard (and erased) more Gb of "new punk" than you've heard in your life. My friends send me tons of this crap, trying to get me to listen to it.

I'm sure your friend's store will live on, OL.

Back in the days we always said Punk was a state of mind. So punks not dead and will never die in that sense.

Right so how do I insert a damn video??

That's the specialty of poser-punk assholes like you.

Let me explain it to you, since you obviously weren't even born when punk broke in '77.

Punk was a short-lived outburst of disaffected youth, rebelling against hopelessness and high unemployment of the facistic Thatcher regime in England, and the Carter "malaise" era. We had no money, no jobs, no future, and no talent. But those days are gone, and so is Punk.

So what the fuck are you rebelling against, an unfavorable Yen/Dollar exchange rate?

Hit the quote on mine as if to reply and see what I pasted in between the [ YT ] [ /YT ] (extra spaces added to show the YT bracketing. You don't need those spaces) brackets.

This is the explanation link herein......

The basic rules for posting embedded videos:

1. No porn
2. No nudity
3. No death
4. No tasteless videos

This is the first time I saw the forum rules on embedded videos. We occasionally get 1 and 2, but we see a lot of Example4 on here.
