Envelopes each containing large amounts of cash were sent to five government bodies, including the Finance Ministry, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, the Meteorological Agency, the Social Insurance Agency and the Board of Audit, on Wednesday, sources said.
The four bodies, except for the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, which received 950,000 yen in cash, were each posted a 1 million yen wad of bills. The total amount received by the government bodies was 4.95 million yen.
