I just love watching these minor leaguers of the US tee off on some of the best pitching the Japanese have to offer. What did Darvish do to be so hated by the fans and the managers? I was reading on another site that it was all Darvishes fault. If he had pitched better and they beat Cuba in the first game everything would have been different. What a crock of shit that is.

If you didn't know any better, watching this game you'd think that the Japanese players were the minor leaguers.

Question, if the US goes on to win this game what if any fall out will there be? Does this damage Hoshino's legacy, career opportunities? Commercial opportunities? What about Davy Johnson, does he get another chance to manage in the BIg Show. Just wondering.

No, because it's Darvish's fault.. And the foreign food they had to eat..

Well that makes sense--in the 4 games they've played before today against Cuba, Korea, and the US, the Japanese offense has scored a total of 9 runs. So of course they lost because of a pitcher.

Hoshino just put Darvish in to pitch the last of the 8th, so obviously it will be his fault when they lose.

Seems to me like Hoshino put him in in the hopes that he would pitch poorly, giving Hoshino an excuse for not having put him in earlier.

A double steal with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th when you have a 4-run lead, that's pretty pointless.

I think it was just to get this thing over with...after all there are 450,000,000 Chinese girls out there to chase after, and a bronze medal will land a few of them.

They just did an interview of a very subdued Hoshino. He did get in a plug that the strike zone was something from another world (not that it wasn't the same for all teams).

The announcer must be reading the blogs because he tried to push the question that losing the first game changed Japan's whole rhythm for the games. Hoshino didn't really answered that, just indicated it didn't help.

He definitely was not the same messenger carrying Nippon Yakkyu's superiority to be shown to the world.

The days of hearing Hoshino Japan are numbered.

Any team that tries a safety bunt on the first pitch of the game deserves to lose. That is some weak shit.
Glad that Hoshino Japan lost today and ended up with a 4-5 record.:D

Great game between Argentine and Nigeria for the gold medal in soccer/futbol/football. Replay started about 10 minutes ago on BS1.

Don't look at the web Pete if you don't know the results. They're already posted...

I already know the score as I was flipping channels between the Yakyu and the Argie-Nigeria game. The huge US lead made it a little easier.:D

BTW, surprised the US let their pitcher (a 20 year old) go seven complete innings. Yesterday in the Cuba game they seemed to change pitchers too often for no reason and it bit them in the ass.

Australian: Japanese synchro swimmer fails to surface
A JAPANESE synchronised swimmer has had to be helped from the Olympic pool after apparently fainting following her team's free routine. The female swimmer started sinking at the end of the four-minute number and a teammate had to dive under the water to pull her to the surface. Concerned team officials helped the ailing swimmer to the edge of the pool and she was carried away on a stretcher. She was later identified as 23-year-old Hiromi Kobayashi. A Japanese team spokesman said it was not the first time she had passed out during a routine, adding that she had regained consciousness and team doctors were not concerned about her health. "That sort of thing has happened to her before," he said. "We are not seriously concerned about her condition."

What an ending the Cuba Korea Game. Bases loaded and the catcher goes after the ump? The calls were borderline, but the Korean catcher was framing every pitch trying to get the call. If Cuba wins this game the Koreans are going to go nuts.

What happened? I was away from the tube for a few seconds and I came back as the catcher was throwing his equipment into the dugout.
Did he go after the ump when the guy walked to load the bases?

BBC: Matos rage overshadows Cha gold
South Korea's Cha Dong-min took gold in the men's +80kg taekwondo, but former champion Angel Valodia Matos was banned for life for attacking the referee...The Cuban took gold in the 2000 Olympics, but he did not take kindly to being disqualified halfway through the bout for taking too long to return to action after an injury. Fighters have a maximum of one minute's break for injury, and the referee removed him from the competition as soon as the time elapsed. Matos pushed and kicked the referee, drawing blood from the mouth, then attacked the Swedish judge before spitting on the floor and being escorted out of the arena. Both Matos and his coach have been swiftly handed a lifetime ban from all World Taekwondo Federation championships, subject to confirmation by the International Olympic Committee...more...
