Indonesia looks to Japan for 'Better English Teaching'

Postby Taro Toporific » Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:17 pm

[floatl]Image[/floatl]Better English teaching needed
TheJakartaPost.com / August 23, 2008 ....To improve the quality of primary English teaching in Indonesia, based on what I've learned from some elementary schools in Japan, there are at least five points of advice that Indonesian teachers may find useful.
First, the teachers must learn and master the methods and techniques of teaching English. The skills that are taught to students are mainly listening and speaking. The introduction of English vocabulary and simple sentences is also important...more...

Ok, I'll admit that I didn't really read the article thoroughly, and as there was no mention of Indonesian nurses...well...there seemed to be no mention in the article of having an ACTUAL native speaker thrown into the process of teachng the language....just studying and observation of other Indonesian teachers is gonna have Indonesian kids soon gooder spoking Engrish.

This is one of proof that Indonesian respect and admire Japan and Japanese despite being "invaded" by Empire Japan. Unfortunately Indonesia is not anti-Japan country as ex-Allies of WWII believe. Japan and Indonesia can collaborate each other as sea powers to constraint land power China.

Dude, Indonesia looking to Japan for guidance on teaching English is like the blind leading the fucking blind. You want to learn how to teach English? Go to a Western University and take a degree, go talk to an experienced English professor, fuck, just whatever you do don't go and ask the local idiot factory. Indonesia would be much better off taking lessons from the Koreans than the Japanese on this subject.

Indonesian taking advice from the Japanese???
This is probably equivalent to, if you want to get spiritual counseling and guidance go to Rev. Wright for a true and honest soul cleansing.

What really nerve's me is how Japanese can take an English word and then change the overall meaning of it to suit their needs, but if WE say something in Japanese the wrong way, we get a lecture as to how to pronounce and how important it is to keep the proper intonation when speaking and conversing.
