Inquirer: Japanese indicted for rape of maid

A 67-year-old Japanese man was indicted on Monday before a Manila City court for allegedly molesting his teenaged maid inside her room in his home. Nakamura Daiju, a native of Tokyo, and who resided at E.R. Salas Street, Ermita, Manila, pleaded not guilty before Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 5 Judge Wilhelmina Melanio-Arcega to the charges of rape and violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Act. Based on the information filed before the court, Nakamura is accused of raping his 15-year old housemaid last August 21 at around 10 p.m., after sneaking into her quarters inside his home. The complainant alleged in her statement that before the rape, the Japanese had been flirting with her and had been making sexual advances, reportedly offering to shoulder her expenses for education. He was arrested immediately after the maid lodged a complaint before the Manila Police District Women's and Children's Concern Desk (WCCD).

The arraignment was set Monday on the recommendation of assistant city prosecutor Leo Lee who found probable cause for the charges.
