I just saw that. What an absolute crock. Every team had to deal with the same umpires--I saw more than one US player today say something to the homeplate ump about the strike zone.

If anything, it was the Japanese team's obsession with the "inconsistent" strike zone.

Some guy in a tutu disrupted the equestrian event in Hong Kong. The 8.6 from the Ukranian judge means that he didn't advance to the final round.

The spin is on. Channel 4 just did a nice explanation of the strike zone differences as the reason for Japan's team not performing up to expectations. If you are armed with a few good reasons, it reduces the sting of going home w/o a medal around your neck.
Back to watching the USA chicks beat the crap out of the Ozzies in basketball.

You know, just for shits and giggles I just did do the math. If you assume that the guy who led-off went 9.90 (and that's being generous if you look at what he's done at 100 meters in his career) that means the other three guys AVERAGED 9.07 seconds. Given that, there's NO WAY Bolt didn't go under 9 seconds in his leg.

It's just too bad they can't give accurate splits like they do in swimming relays.

You know, I'm kind of glad that baseball won't be an Olympic sport anymore. Playing a team one time and beating them doesn't necessarily mean anything in terms of which is a better team. That's why, except in the rarest of instances, baseball titles are determined by winning a series. And that's not to take anything away from Korea; they won the Olympic gold medal. But does anyone really believe they have the best baseball players in the world.

I think if the Olympics and the WBC have done anything, it's to show that the best players in Japan and Korea are probably better than many people had believed them to be.

Of course for the Japanese team, it's kind of hard to leave saying, "Winning will prove that Japanese baseball is the best in the world," and then come home after not winning and say, "Well, the truth is, it doesn't really mean that much."

Is it just me, but the whole notion of the Olympics is just a huge joke and it's a pointless social gathering? I am glad this whole crap-fest of "sports" is over.

All tournaments are single or double elimination. Why should the Olympics be different? I hate to see the IOC drop it. This may not last you know. The interest in Asia maybe put some pressure to bring baseball and softball back.

There are a lot of emerging countries in baseball that are going to make international tournaments much more interesting in the future. Russian and Eastern European countries are playing more ball. I think it is getting more interesting for the future

Ahh come on Tommy. Just cause you atheletically challenged doesn't mean the rest of us should hate the Olympics.

Just think they may come up with a new event such as Free Wanking that even you could enter....

Please tell me somebody else noticed this. During the women's basketball USA VS Russia there was some fan (I think it was some random ching chong) who would moan like a retarded goat at 200 decibles every time America drove towards the basket. WTF?

And the whistle fag (one fucking guy) at the USA/Japan baseball game... Jesus Christ. STFU and watch the game, retards.

The rumor I've be seeing the last few days is that baseball comes back ONLY if MLB allows its players to play (at least if you're talking about the next 2 or 3 Olympics after London).

IOC president Jacques Rogge hinted Saturday that baseball will not return as an Olympic sport until major league players are allowed to take part.

"We have [Roger] Federer, [Rafael] Nadal in tennis, LeBron James in basketball," Rogge told MLB.com. "We have the best cyclists. Ronaldinho is here in football.

"We want these guys at the Games.

"We're not saying it should be an entire Major League team, but we want the top athletes here at the Olympics."

What a great race in the men's marathon! Smashed the Olympic record by almost 3 minutes. And the first Kenyan man ever to win Olympic gold in the marathon.

He's an FG and speaks Japanese. He's been based in Japan since 2002 after he won a cross-country race which was effectively a scouting exercise by Japanese schools. He went to high school and was one of the reasons they had that discussion to exclude foreign runners from the ekiden runs. He trains under Koichi Morishita, who won the marathon silver medal in Barcelona so now he's gone one better than his coach.

You should get into Rugby AO. It's the only sport that offers more wedgies than wrestling.

He graduated from HS in Japan and was working for Toyota in Kyushu until recently. I think he is on contract to a sports company now. He lives in Fukuoka and as Mulby says is an actual FG.

Up your bucket GJ. The Redeem Team is doing some proctology on the Spain game as we speak.....

Spain shows potential for an upset.. Only down by 6 or so.. Shouldn't they be down by 20 up against the 'pros'?

That's a "Come Bet" for the point spread! But, that aside, Spain's team is all pros, with a couple on NBA teams.
