Japanese military out of gas?

TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's military may use up its annual fuel budget months early this year, despite running some ships and planes at low power and cutting back on major exercises.

Faced with fuel costs that exceed spending plans by 60 percent, the Self Defense Force has scaled back training missions involving jets and ships, vehicles are being run at slower speeds, and more passengers are being squeezed in per trip in order to conserve fuel, a Defense Ministry spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity, citing protocol.

I predicted this kind of shit a long while back, not on this forum but one of those patriotic gun lover forums
AND GOT FLAMED, THREATENED AND ALMOST BANNED FOR IT by a bunch of "patriotic" cunts with no concept of free speech
and I made the prediction not for Japan's military but for many of the military powers of the West. We would be fucked. The USA, Italians, British were does all their powered engines come from ? - its fueled largely by middle east oil

If there was another massive Oil shock, most of the Tanks would be without gas, homes would be unheated, school buses would be undriven and ships would stay in Port. We don't need the oil addicts and basically all ships, cruisers etc could be powered by nuke energy the liquid metal fast reactors and superheated water water energy reactors....in Japan because the politicians are anti-nuke and they experienced the Hiroshima crap I imagine this nuke powered ship would still be highly unpopular so I would suggest stocking up on a supply of green/renewable energy. Brazil's transport industry for example is becoming oil-free and is now to be powered by sugar cane
if all the oil wells went up in flames Brazil wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Fuck oil, I'm sick of the insane prices
they should just get this shit over and done with and send OPEC a cruise missile or two

They should just switch to natural gas and harness the power of my ass after a night of drinking. I'm dropping some bombs this morning.

From my understanding, the Ministry of Defense (formerly Agency) has traditionally spent most of its money on developing and testing indigenous military vehicles (that sometimes cost up to four times more than existing hardware already produced by other friendly countries) while paying individual personnel fairly poorly and spending little on strategic supplies such as ammunition stockpiles and small arms. They could save a lot more money just buying US or Euro equipment and spares instead of reinventing military technology that already exists, but there's no way that's going to happen...

It occurred to me, there's a simple solution.

Cease all funding for military equipment and personnel. Spend ALL the money on gasoline. Then if there's an invasion, just have everyone run to the beach and pour gasoline in a trench around the whole country, and light it on fire.

I recall reading about something like this working to repel naval landings. It's tried and tested.
