Learn To Cook The Denny's Way

Seven & I Food Systems, operators of the Denny's family restaurant chain, will run a cooking school later this month. Two three-hour lessons will be offered on the 24th and the 25th which will teach attendees how to prepare the restaurant's popular jambalaya dish. Originally these classes were for staff only but Denny's decided to share its culinary secrets with the world in April and this will be the fifth time the public will be able to participate. Apparently, some foreigners have gone along to previous classes but space is limited: only ten people can join. In case you are worried about not looking the part, the 1,500 yen fee includes the loan of a coat, apron and chef's hat. Denny's rejects suggestions that the lessons will mainly consist of instructions on how to use a microwave oven.

In a related story, Denny's competitor Skylark has responded by offering their own cooking class. They will only be charging 1,200 yen. And to deliver even more value to the participants, the class will last 22 hours with no breaks.

I'll wait for Ringer Hut to make their announcement before doing anything.

I'll introduce my own cooking class, I assure you it will work just as well as Denny's class:

1. Buy food product
2. Prepare according to instructions on label.
3. Serve

Optional substitutes for step 3:

3a. Serve only to others.

3b. Serve, run like hell.

And now for one of my favorite jokes.

Out in the old West, the cowboys were all assembled around the chuckwagon for another awful meal prepared by the old guy named Cookie. The guys were bitching, as always, about how bad the food was. Finally one of them spoke up and said, "Dammit Cookie, your food is so bad, next time we go into town, we're going to buy you a cookbook and we expect you to follow the recipes to the letter. Your cooking is bound to improve, it could hardly be worse."
So about a month later, they're all eating and complaining that Cookie's food hasn't improved one bit. They corner Cookie and demand an explanation. Cookie says it's a problem with the ingredients, he can't follow the recipes. The cowboys don't believe him because they've bought all the beans and beef and everything they want him to cook. So he explains:
"Well, every recipe starts the same way: 'Take a clean dish...'"

OT: I like your avatar, Doc! It's mezzzzmeriz...wha?

There was an FG member - I think it was greji - who had an equally mesmerizing avatar in the Time-before-Time Era of FG:

That was Catoneko in his previous life. When the Dingos got old and he got tired of my slobbering over his avatar, he changed his name. Now he's trying to pawn it off on the old goat herder....

It has always pissed me off..... the fact that J-denny's does not serve breakfast 24/7. WTF! there is no point to denny's if you can't get a waffle and bacon at 2am.

And they shouldn't be allowed to call it Denny's if they don't serve the Grand Slam breakfast.

Culinary Secrets??? Denny's?????

Yea, the grand slam is by far, Denny's signature mark, but Culinary?
I agree, the J-Denny's just can't swing it. Without a good breakfast menu is the equivalent of McDonalds "not serving fries" anymore-(discontinued) with their burgers.
