Japan Probe spotted this story and the picture come from Konishiki's website where he reveals that he went under the knife on the 25th February. He says that the surgery went well and he's looking to make a good recovery. He also apologizes to everyone who has been worried about his health.

Seems like gastric bypasses are becoming a "get-out-of-fat-farm" option rather than an option of last resort. My 22 year old cousin is getting it done soon apparently. Now she's a big girl but not beyond the point where putting down the fucking fork and doing a bit of exercise wouldn't help.
Konishiki though, well it was obviously a good option for him, bet Takanohana had it done too by the looks of him. Either that or he's got AIDS.

I saw him last year at a school event. He's still pretty trim, but he moves like a guy who still weighs 300kg. His ankles, knees and hips look to be in bad shape, so if he hadn't lost the weight, he might have ended up not being able to walk at all.

Same thought Sub. I ran into at the New Sanno Hotel around year end and he looked bad in the sense he still walked like he did in Sumo. He had a suit on, but even though the pounch was gone, his ass and legs looked like they did at 300kg. He did say he was feeling a lot better since the procedure, so I guess that's good....

This picture raises some deeply disturbing questions. Does Konishiki hang around graveyards at night? If one were to eat Konishiki would they be bestowed with eternal life? Do Nuppeppo cut album of Hawaiian music. If so, how do they sing?
