Cop shooter in drunken rage during siege(mainichi interactive)

A man who gunned down two police officers during a standoff at his Tokyo apartment Wednesday was a habitual wife-beater and heavily intoxicated at the time, it was learned Thursday.

Police are also examining the procedure to evacuate residents of the apartment and its neighboring buildings because some locals living within firing range of the shootout complained that they had not been warned.

LOL....what the hell? What are the police to do? Go to each house and say' "Oh sorry, but there is going to be a shootout with a drunken wifebeater at 3:00 taday...so if you could just be somewhere else at that time, it would help us alot."

I tell you......The american way of life has had a much greater inpact on the japanese then some people think lol!

I just thought it was weird that people wouldn't go "Hmm, I wonder what all those cops are outside for" or "Whats all the noise outside". Guess its a midwestern/nosey gaijin thing, but I watch what's going on outside my windows. And have no qualms about asking a cop whats up and if I need to duck.
