Toy Stores in Shinjuku

Postby Cyka UchuuJin » Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:13 pm

More specifically, I'm looking for 'Bratz' dolls. Country bumpkin based in Osaka that I am, I don't have any idea where to look up here. I'm in Shinjuku, but I would rather not spend the whole afternoon dragging myself through all the bajillion department stores down by the station.

Suggestions?

edit: i have to go through ginza area today, so suggestions for that area also would be greatly appreciated!

I had a couple of my offices girls do a web search and can't find anything for them other than online sites. I know from the kids that "Toys R Us" in the states carry them. But can't find in reference to their outlets in Japan.

Btw when you're in the Ginza don't come across the Yamanote line tracks into Shimbashi unless you're bringing you laundry basket to my turf!

Look in second-hand shops. My little nieces inform me that Bratz are soo 2002. They're flying off the shelves like lead bricks.

She admitted to me that she's otaku and buying them for herself, and that she dresses them daily in various Lolita costumes (hence the laundry line is always full)...ok, I'm lying.

They have second hand toy shops in Tokyo, eh? Really? Where? I'm an avid collector of Pokemon plushie dolls, they are so cute. And I can't find the ones I am missing at the Pokemon Centre or in any department store. I don't mind paying full price, since I have no hope of winning one from a UFO catcher machine due to my lack of skill. Maybe I can find it at one of these used toy shops.

Now you went an ruined my mood. If they aren't nicked off the line at 2 AM, they lose a lot of their intrinsic value!

Back to topic..
There is a toy shop in Ginza, on the Shinbashi end on the main road. I forgot the name of the store, but it's quite famous by the locals. Now, only if I remember the name. I'm sure Greji or somebody would tell if they aren't too busy going off-topic on this subject. ;)

i might be partially guilty for encouraging the topic detour. :crazy3:

i can report that 'operation bratz' was successful. the mission was accomplished swiftly and without incident at kiddy land in harajuku, under the guidance of captain greji.

i can also report that bratz are the ugliest dolls i have ever seen and i am horrified that a 6 year old would want one.

Your dissertation oral:D examination involves reciting what you would do romantically with a wild elk in 13 different languages. The elk's gotta understand at least one of them.

Sounds like you're talking about Hakuhinkan. IMHO it's a much better store than Kiddyland (which ain't bad itself).

Mandarake always seem to carry a healthy range of 2nd hand toys. Not sure if they would have any Bratz but they might be able to help Alicia out with her Pokemon fetish, eerrr collection.

I think the only second hand toys you would find in Shinjuku are of the "adult" persuasion. The toy store in Ginza is a fun little place with 8 stories.

That's where Iraira bought that dildo he likes to flash around. You know, it's the one with the one and a half horsepower Briggs and Straton engine on it.

Actually, mine's a little more eco-friendly. Gf is not the suspicious type, nevertheless, I wouldn't want to leave any carbon footprints on anyone behind.

You probably just got Iraira fired. He's going to be browsing and shopping on that site for the next week and not get any work done....

They had a meeting at work during lunch today, and I'm never invited to these meetings, as I always fall asleep after five minutes. If they'd set the AC to something that a thick-blooded Western Cro-Magnon could thrive in, I'd stay awake at least for 7.5 minutes. Anyway, let's stay focused here.
I'm not saying that I looked at the above "link", but I still can't stand up for fear of shocking the 60 year old gastric refluxing baba that sits across from me.
