I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

I think it's a good example of affirmative action, but I checked with with a Japanese guy - apparently it's impossible for foreigners to learn Japanese - they just can't do it. You need to have Japanese blood to be able to speak it....

No, it's not blood at all. You must have the unique J-tongue to do it. I know cause Noriko showed me....!

Isn't it illegal for FGs to speak Japanese?

The Japanese language is unique in that only the pure Japanese, not from Mongoloidal or Chinese ancestry, can master. Remember that.

Actually - I know a girl, half Brazillian, half Japanese, lived her whole life in Japan.
Although she thinks Japanese is her native language - she is wrong.
She is good at Japanese - is reminded every day how good she speaks, and reminded, funnily enough - that "she almost sounds like a Japanese."

If only she had that special tounge....

It`s more funny to think that in portuguese (the native brazilian language, which is my native language too) the word for `language` is the same one for `tongue`: "[I]lí].

Might as well have some fun with it otherwise it just gets annoying.

When asked why my Japanese is so good by natives under the age of about 40 I simply (and truthfully) tell them that I've been in Japan longer than they have, and if there's anything they'd like to know about their country they can simply ask me.

The result: either a good laugh or a looooong confused silence.

I had a similar conversation with someone about my son.

Chrysanthemum: 'He speaks Japanese really well.'
Lard ass FG me: 'His mother is Japanese.'
C: 'But he's really good.'
LAFG: 'He has lived his whole life in Japan.'
C: 'But even then he is really good.'

Maybe his Japanese is better than normal Japanese perhaps?
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.
