last I checked most Japanese car makers make "crossovers" not true SUVs. The subaru ones are based on the legacy car body making it a crossover. As far as I know the toyota land cruser is the only true SUV made by a japanese maker. The ford Explorer is based on the ranger and the ford excursion is based on the F150. The explorer and F150 are true trucks with body on frame construction. The same goes for chevy. The trailbalzer is based on the colorado. The tahoe, suburban, and the avalanche are based on the silverado.
It would be much more effective to have those Sumo promote western fast food chains such as McDonalds, KFC, etc. They would give the real meaning behind "Supersize Me".

Of course, driving around in a car instead of walking will also help to get that sexy Sumo figure, so I guess those Subaru ads really are effective as well.

Yes, that's one of the videos. But the "concept" of the website is that you are an "Official Photographer" at a Sexy Subaru Photo Shoot. While showing off the Forester's features the "Sexy Sumo Supermodel", the former Makunouchi-ranked sumo-tori Daishochi, you can use your mouse scrollwheel to zoom on his butt zits and right-click to take photos. The Flash-infested website lets you process the photos and submit them to their contest gallery.
The Forester is based off the Imprezza chassis, and the Tribecca is based of the Legacy chassis. ^_~
SUV seems to be a term thrown around a lot today. Subaru seem to be on the mark though, as compared to cars like the Mazda CX7 and the nissan junkers that are floating about, with a 70-30% front to back split at best, and some makers (Toyota) offer the option of front wheel drive only.
