So I checked into some stuff. I tried to figure out how exactly I was suppose to move to Japan with absolutely no college credentials. I was like hmmm a student visa? Then I remembered I went through school with all F's. Then I was like.... ummm.... hmm.... Damn waddafuk. So I thought long and hard about it. Then I was like :O oh snap.... I have like blonde hair and blue eyes. dem asian peoples would be like mmmhmmmm I bet I could get a work visa as an entertainer. so i wrote some modeling companies. I mean... I think I look good... I dont know if I look model good.... but damnit I wanna get a free ride to japan man Im broke -_- so I applied to maybe 10-20 japanese modeling agencies and now Im waiting for a response. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this? or.... if this dont work and it turns out Im not good looking at all, how the hell else am i suppose to get a visa to stay in japan without any college behind me?

There are some threads here that discuss modeling in Japan - and that there's no money in it. Don't bother starting a career in Japan if you have no degree and no skills. With that kind of background, chances are it won't be any better for you in Japan than in your native country.

Now fishing in the gulf is dead. My captain docked his boat and there arent very many captains looking for deckhands. As for why Id like to move to Japan the reasons are as follows...

1 - America is a rotting pile of trash.
2 - Japan is likely to be the next world power.
3 - When I have children I want them to be in a country where they'll not be exposed to the trash I have been in my life.
4 - I have an interested in going to school for Micro-Biological Research. A field Japan is breaking new ground in everyday.

Let me outline a five step program I worked out to myself to become a Japanese national.

1 - Convince a Japanese company to pay my way their
2 - Get enrolled in some kind of school while Im there
3 - Go to college in Japan
4 - Roll in happiness
5 - I didnt really think about how many steps before I said this

Debatable....what part of America are you living in....there are a multitude of environments in which one can reside in the US, and collectively lumping the whole lot together...well...it's sounds like a 15 yo trying to be hard.

Did 5 years of biotech & Uni research in Japan. They are behind the US and EU in all areas. The funding is generally for smaller topics, in the biosciences, than you'd see coming from the NSF or other US grant sources. There is the JSPS which funds foreign researchers in Japan (I think they still take in MS and PhD candidates...I was here on their post-doc plan). Either way, an interest is only the foundation for what you'll need to get through.

Jadic, try to scrounge the cheapest air fare you can, come over for a look around and if you still feel as enthusiastic about the place, you'll have the incentive to work/study in order to come here on a more permanent basis.

If you come to Japan you are doomed to be an Eikaiwa Clown, paid 3,000 Yen an hour but only get 2 hours of work per day.

You won't get a real job because you can't speak, read and write Japanese even if you could you would still need a field of specialty with which to use these skills.

There again you could become a Ginza bar fly and see what kind of wealthy flies land. That said, a drink in a decent bar in Ginza will cost you more than than you can earn in a day at an English school.

The modeling industry like all other industries that employ foreign nationals is sown up by Japanese. They make the money, you get the job and a pittance to live on.

Come on, guys. Jadic may be young. And he may find that he is mistaken. About a great many things. But that does not mean he is a troll. Lots of FG members have started out asking virtually the same questions.

But Jadic, I will say that what you're looking to do is *really* a stretch. Going from no college to graduate studies in a foreign country, in a foreign language you don't know, is quite a journey. Not to say it can't be done, but there are sure a lot of hurdles to overcome and a heck of a lot of studying.

Is my perspective really so offensive to you that you have to assault me with an array of insults just because I may not have the full understanding you have of Japan? I looked up the meaning of troll and it was to deliberately post false information for the sake of causing controversy getting attention and just being a dick. The things I asked were my honest perspective on the situation. Why the hell do people on forums always want to argue? If I asked one of you these questions in person I guarantee even if you thought some of them were stupid youd show me a million times more courtesy then you are doing online. Im 21 not 15. Im not a sexual pervert. Im not incapable of learning. Im a person who is interested in changing nationalities but faces a problem. I made mistakes in my life and didnt stay in school when I was younger. I want to change these things now.

To the person who said they were aware of a way I could get into fishing there. If you were being serious please tell me more. I am a hard worker and have experience Long Lining for both grouper and shark. I can haul and set gear, cut and bait hooks, make and fix gear. If theres anything to it I dont know already Ill bust my ass until I can do it right.

Also Im fairly talented at using most computer programs. Im a nerd at heart. So maybe if theres a way I could get a job in designing web content or graphics?

I, for one, owe you an oppology. I gotta tell ya, your post really did sound like you were taking the piss, but you evidently were not, so I am sorry. I'll try to address your questions seriously below.

1) You want to move to Japan with no university education. It is, of course, possible to do this, but I think you will find that the overwhelming advice from almost everyone you ask will be to finish your education before you come here.

2) You think you might be able to be an entertainer or model. Again, its possible, but you will not be the only FG in Japan with "blond hair and blue eyes" as you put it, so unless you have a good portfolio, or are a talented, experienced musician, I think it might be best to, ummm, try another option.

3) You state that your reasons for wanting to come to Japan include wantng to escape the trash pile that is America. That I understand. But Japan as a future world power, and wanting to study micro-biology? See point 1.

4) You say you "want to change nationalities". If I were you, I would hold on to your American nationality. (You do know what nationality means, right? If not, see point 1)

5) Your fishing skills are admirable. Im no expert in the fishing industry in Japan, but my guess is that there isnt a huge demand for English speaking monolingual shark fishermen. But again, I'm certainly no expert there.

In any case, I do wish you luck. I'm sure if you dont give up, you will make it to Japan, and THEN you can become a sexual pervert like the rest of us.
