All the stuff I've been seeing is that the cops are actually becoming afraid of the otaku. Death threats from 2-channelers seem as common as a salaraiman puking his guts up on a Friday after payday, and given the Japanese history of "kill the foreigners", the large police presence (as douchebag said in the video...under police protection) seems to be more directed at preventing the threat of violence from 2-channel otaku from becoming a reality. Imagine several otaku 2-channelers go (more) psycho and stab or even kill a few gaijin who were "just having a party on Halloween". Doesn't look too good from a "Yokoso Japan" perspective.
Most Japanese probably look at the Train Jack as a mild inconvenience or as a curiosity. For anyone to get so bent out of shape about this means that person is either racist, can't get laid (because you fucking gaijin steal our women), or too old to remember that they were once young (someone who doesn't consider a fun night getting blotto at home in front of the computer).
That nothing and no one appeared to get damaged (except for alcohol induced neural damage) this year is good.

Well put, Iraira.

So, I'm assuming Take-channel would oppose all local matsuri because they cause 'public nuisance'..

Only real Japanese would understand that. And remember this; that which is stated on Take-channel, is the true Japanese understanding.. But not necessarily the reality. :p

Oh that video was just awful. There's nothing more pathetic than people trying to convince you how awesome their party was.

A train being crowded with people because there's a big event going on somewhere and a group people purposefully planning to cluster-fuck a train and party on it are very different things.

I agree with SJ on this one.

Although the Japanese like to party, they do it within parameters - set festivals, times and venues. Train-jacking would do more than just create a feeling of inconvenience as it shows that those foreigners don't know and/or care how Japanese culture expects them to act on public transport. The inclusion of some young Japanese doesn't change that and the fact that 2-chanists are also now turning up to this event is proof that it's heading for trouble, if not next year, then another.

They should just find a venue, charge entry to cover it and deny admission without a costume (to keep out the 2-chanists - who're scary enough without costumes).

It requires planning, but maybe that's an opportunity for an FG or 2 out there . . .

Just my 2 yen.

Or maybe it's an opportunity for JR. I still remember back in my student days in Hakodate, they had a "karaoke densha" equipped with party facilities for food and drink. You could arrange to rent the karaoke car, they'd hook it up to the end of the regular densha and run it back and forth on the regular route.

I heard a rumor that's how the 'Yamanote Halloween' tradition started; a small group would ride the last car dressed up while playing instruments and singing.. Not sure if it's true.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but it really doesn't appeal to me anymore. Although, I remember having a lot of fun, and the locals also having fun, when I went years ago..

But I wouldn't want to agree with the Take-channellers.. So I hope people continue the tradition. :p

The 2chaner's have nothing to do with my feelings about the event. I just hate when other gaijin in Japan go out of their way to prove all the worst stereotypes true. This train jack is actually something they couldn't get away with in a lot of our home countries.
