Here are the controversial new cushions being installed for the Fukuoka sumo basho. They are designed to stop people throwing them onto the dohyo. Instead of four 1kg cushions, the new type consists of two connected double cushions with a combined weight of 4.8kg. I wonder if people will now co-operate to spin them into the ring.
