Saito Kinen Makes Top 20 Orchestras List

Classical music magazine Gramophone has released a ranking of the world's top 20 orchestras. Seiji Ozawa's Saito Kinen Orchestra makes the list at no. 19. One of the eleven judges is Korean while another is Chinese but Saito Kinen is the only Asian orchestra chosen. Ozawa's ensemble has toured internationally but is primarily the resident ensemble at the annual Saito Kinen Festival.
