Another sad news. Seemed like it is not out yet in the news. Happened about 6am in the apartment right behind my house, my balcony is considered the closest to their window, but I had no idea until those reporters started to ring my doorbell this morning.

A 17-year-old correspondence course high school student was arrested for allegedly killing his 54-year-old father at their house in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, early Thursday, police said. According to the police, the youth made an emergency call at about 6:15 a.m., saying he had stabbed his father. Police officers who came to the house found the man lying on the floor near the kitchen. He had been stabbed in the back. The police arrested the youth on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder, but upgraded the charge to murder when the father was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour later. The youth and his father lived by themselves. The youth--a self-described hikikomori (recluse)--reportedly told the police that he stabbed his father with a kitchen knife when he was washing his face in the kitchen.
