Singer-songwriter Hiromi Matsuura has had a steady, if unremarkable, J-pop career since her debut in 2005. Her second single was selected as the theme song for a 2006 PlayStation 2 game while her 2007 single "Happy Life", shown above, saw similar success when it was chosen by housebuilder Misawa Home as the backing song for a series of television commercials. However, she was unable to maintain the momentum and now appears to be looking to change her image. In October last year, she surprised fans by releasing a DVD photo collection of nearly-nude erotic poses (you can see the NSFW cover here). In December, she followed up with a slightly more risqué DVD collection under the title "Naked Clips". If that was troubling, then her next announcement has been even more shocking: she will shortly release an adult video (NSFW cover here). Some members of her fan club are outraged and sense that her agent has been pressurizing her to generate some hard cash by compromising her wholesome image in this way. Others wonder whether the singer hasn't undergone some kind of breakdown. She doesn't appear to be looking to make a full-time career of sleaze. Instead, it's a one-off production with the cover of the DVD announcing her immediate retirement as a porn actress. Nevertheless, companies will be wary of using her songs in any future promotions so whether this turns out to be a career-ending decision or whether it will open her up to a new audience remains to be seen
