Man Arrested For Assaulting Marine

Postby Mulboyne » Sat Jan 10, 2009 7:29 pm

Kyodo via Japan Today: Man arrested for assaulting U.S. Marine in Kanagawa
A man was arrested in Ayase City on Friday, accused of assaulting a U.S. Marine from Naval Air Facility Atsugi at around 11 p.m. on Jan 2. Yu Saiki, a 28-year-old resident of Ayase City and president of a building company, is accused of punching and kicking the 28-year-old private, breaking a bone in his face that will take one month to heal. Police said the private was returning to the Naval Air Facility Atsugi after drinking with colleagues, when he realized he had lost his sunglasses. He headed back and was searching for them, when Saiki called out to him from outside his home and claimed the Marine had hit his dog, and kicked and punched the private, police said. Saiki said the Marine had hit him first, but security cameras captured footage of the incident which showed the Marine never hit Saiki.

If that shit wasn't on film that Marine would probably be serving five years.

I hope this gets a bit of coverage to counterbalance news of US military personnel commiting crimes. But I kind of doubt it will happen.:(

I doubt it considering it sounds like the guy fucked him up pretty bad. You may be shocked to hear this but there are people who can beat a Marine in a one-on-one street fight.

To add to that, there are also some Japanese guys tough guys, big guys that can throw down and give you a serious beat down, not many, but still, it's a case by case situation. So I think the dude, whether he was in the wrong or not, probably thought with his Marine Superpowers and a little cockiness he would be utterly invincible and it proved this time around not to be the case.

How was he wrong looking for his lost sunglasses? We don't know what happened other than the Japanese man lied, threw the first and only punches and kicks, and that the Marine never threw any himself. It sounds to me more like it was the Japanese man who was beligerent, but who knows.

Saiki said the Marine had hit him first, but security cameras captured footage of the incident which showed the Marine never hit Saiki.

So we know the Saiki is a liar and the Marine never hit him.

The marine had a few pints under his belt and probably was not expecting to get sucker punched. A good first lick can take the wind out of a lot people's sails. If Saiki packs a bunch of ass behind him, he probably broke the marine's jaw or cheek bone with the sucker bunch. End of fight.....

But since we have so many readers that seem to be rooting for any marine to get an ass whipping, they should be happy...

As Greji mentioned, sounds like a sucker-punch.. The only kind of 'fight' a baby yak can win. :p

I'm glad the Marine didn't fight back; in the long run, it's better for him and the military image.

The chinpira will face his karma some day.. Unfortunately, it's karma that will have to even the score; the Japanese are incapable of standing up to their mafia.

Greji mate, dont get your knickers in a twist.
For the record, I dont like to see anyone get punched, least of all king-hit. And obviously I dont know what happended in this altercation because I simply wasn't there. Nevertheless, from what we can gather, it seems likely, as you and others have assumed, that this marine was king-hit by a yak chinpira pussy cunt mother fucker. And that's fucked. We agree on that.

But what SJ was alluding to, and what I was in agreement with him about, is that it is not uncommon to see gaijin - including, but not exclusively, US servicemen - throwing their weight around with the locals while pissed. 'Jap-slapping' is what it is often called down in Kansai. Like me, you have also been 'in country' long enough to know that sometimes Charizma-men get belted when they try to 'jap-slap'. I feel sorry for this dude. And I am not for a minute suggesting that this guy was 'jap-slapping'. Nonetheless, this story serves as an instructional anecdote for the average 19 year old jarhead, or come to think of it, gajin dudes in general.
The lesson is simple - Look out. You never know who can and will try it on.

I wasn't particularly talking about your post Ji. It's just that some of the posters take great pleasure in firing at the military. It sometimes gets old, and it's quite easy because any thing the military does is blown to high heavens in the media and sometimes quite well deserved.

However, there are those people who just see the word military and see red, whether it is a bad incident, or even a news item that is pro-military. There's somewhere around 20,000 military and family members in Japan and contrary to some people's belief, they're not all brawling, drunk, rapists.

As I said, it just gets a little old....

There are two angles to what I said, KJ. The first point is that you never know who you're fucking with and even in Japan there are bad asses. Especially guys involved in construction. Hell, even if the guys isn't a chimp or a yak and is just a guy who runs his own little contracting business where he's doing the hands on work, you probably don't want to fuck with a guy who makes a living doing hard labor because he's mostly likely a lot stronger than you. And let's not forget all the guys you see walking around here with no neck and nasty cauliflower ears.

The second point is not every Marine is a fucking bad ass that can kill you with his bare hands in 30 seconds. A lot of people seem to think that Marines are all trained to fight like Jason Bourne or someshit. It just ain't true.

I wasn't commenting on this case in particular as the article doesn't really give us much detail.

If a security camera hadn't captured the assault would the media have played this up as a Marine assaulting a Japanese person? We can't know, but I suspect the police would have believed Saiki. Maybe the next time, when there is no video, those police will not automatically assume the gaijin is lying.

It would have been useful to have security video evidence in that other nightclub case where the American guy was choked to death. In fact it should be a legal requirement to have video surveillance in every club or bar. Those setups are pretty cheap these days.

I don't want to be videotaped in a bar, getting rejected by girls with common sense. Gotta find a new bar with girls who have no common sense, self-respect, etc....

Well, it goes a little beyond that. The only time I would want video cameras everywhere was if I was provoked into a fight with a J-native by the J-native. The only place I lose it (have lost it, will lose it) was when someone does the trash talk towards the female I am with. I can deal with any "fakkyuu bakana gaijin", but going after the gf is where a fist to mouth should be permissible. Sadly, even in this case, video cameras wouldn't be of much help. The pussification of J-pan doesn't even seem to allow for "kicking someone's ass who insulted your gf's honor"...I challenge you to a duel.
Shit, if I scream at Taro Aso, "your wife's manko is all gabagaba!", she should be able to jam his least favorite manga up my keister.
