Some of the embassy pages might be helpful. I think the British embassy in particular had some information about lawyers and accountants in Tokyo that could speak English.

They are all going to cost quite major $$$ though so be prepared...

Are you looking to spend some decent cash or are you looking for someone to just do your books for cheap? How good of an English speaker/writer do you need? I have worked with a decent one recently, but I'm not sure of your price range. It all depends on what you're wanting them to do (handle bills, salary, expenses, communication with counterparts, insurance, etc.)...

thank you for the info. I'm looking to pay a normal, fair rate for a small, one-man-band company. My accountant now is charging around 10,000 per month and I believe around 100,000 to file. I'm not happy with them raising the price on me even though the volume has gone down tremendously this past year.

Question: why are you calling kusai jijii a fag???

Because kusai jijii was being a smart-ass asking me if I was serious.

Fag? And in capitals too. Not sure where that came from. In any case, if you think that a forum called FUCKED GAIJIN is the best place to start looking for an English speaking accountant in a city like Tokyo, you must be the most idiotic homophobe on Earth. And the fact that you actually need help to find one suggests to me that your 'buisness' probably won't exist in six months.

I've had some experience with accountants in Japan. Typically they are crap. Any decent US 'book-keeper' has more knowledge and experience about standard double entry accounting. My last Japanese accountant had no clue about tax treaties, foreign payments, tax structuring, etc. Besides the fact that our accounting audit system was based on photocopy of the bank book. The last time I used a bank book anywhere else in the world was more than 30yrs ago. Good luck .. Now if there was a Quickbooks in Japanese and English, hmmmm
See you in PyonPyang!

Are you after an accountant or a tax advisor? Or both? Big difference in the sorts of services they can offer. No need to go to the big boys as there are plenty of consultants around and I know a few good ones. Perhaps if you could be clear as to what you were needing I can offer some suggestions.

PM me if you don't want this public.
