I thought I was going to see snippets of film or something, not just hear a story treatment.

When come back bring movie.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

I'm having this strange sense of deja vu. Something about tall Canadians and guitars. Can't quite put my finger on it. Wierd. Oh never mind....;)

Good luck with your project.

"Surviving Tokyo" is easy compared to the horror of "Dreaming Japan". :eek2:

Change , Delays , Good News

Postby Luciddreamer » Sat Nov 08, 2008 2:36 am

*Note*
Just adding an update , more info to come ^_^ Thanks again folks for allowing me to keep this thread here.
*Note*

Things have been really interesting of late and by that I mean I have resigned from my job , for reasons that I would rather not discuss right now....or ever really,so there has obviously been a huge delay in the filming of this movie. The filming will be pushed back to at least 1 year from now , I will continue to work on the story and feel of the film and polish it as much as I can,Visual Effects shots and short test films shall come on mass though as I have some really good news happy.gif

This !
Image

This is my new baby and the camera that I'll be using to film Surviving Tokyo , the Panasonic NV-MD 10000 :D this is also the first piece of equipment that I have managed to buy for myself ^_^ I will purchase a rather large 3 x 3 Meter Green Screen ( With Stand) and the new versions of Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects in the near future (within the next month or so actually :P ) ^_^ So I will have pretty much everything I need to make some really cool shit happen ^_^, or at least work there on.

All that is left to do is work my ass off for the following year in order to safe enough to pay for my flights and feeding the actors etc. oh and a place to stay hahaha.Although things took a turn for the worse with this work incident , I do believe in looking at such things as opportunities for change, that said I am going to run with this and push it through to completion.

Lets do this thing !

Regards

Yawn.:suspect:

This all sounds like pie in the sky to me. I think you would be better served by waiting until you have to show then regale us with your equipment and story line. Everyone will be eager to comment on your product -- once there is something to see.

Amateurs. At least in Hollywood, we used to have colorful terms to describe failed projects, with phrases like "my film is stuck in turnaround."

No shit ,that sounded pretty elitest there. We all gotta start somewhere dude even the big names in cinema started out with sucky home movies.
My goal however is not to be a big name in Hollywood really but to make the movies that I wanna make and the ones that I wanna see,if there are people out there that happen to dig the stuff I'm making then wicked.
No this isn't a failed project , to fail a project you have to atleast complete it and I plan to finish this thing, then we'll see if it fails. Nice attitude you got there dude , really a credit to you , seriousely bravo.

Samurai_Jerk -
True enough I suppose , then again anyone who calls themselves Samurai_Jerk is sure to be picky enough to take issues with the use of asian emoticons by "white people" , I like them and if you've noticed I only really use one or two of them, nuff said.

Tengu Kid -
I've watched you film before ^_^ I liked it , it was fun and I'm glad you had the balls to go out there and just film it ^_^

oh btw....raaaaaaar :p

Does that answer your question ? :P

Anyway that was my first vfx short that I did for college, shooting and post production done over the period of a week and with no prior experience. I've filmed 3 more since then , I'm busy doing post on the 3rd one and the other 2 were sadly lost as a result of my old hard-drive dying.
I'll see if my friends have copies , but its doubtful.Yes these videos suck but the first step in not sucking is getting better equipment and more experience in filming ( which means film more movies :P ) , and to learn from each shoot.
This is my old Demo Reel

That, buddy, raises FAR more questions than it answers.

What was the point?
What was it about?
Why did you post a link to that here?
Do you really think others should have to watch it?
Why did I waste 3 mins of my life looking at that shit?
Are you for real?
Are you on drugs?
Is this a dream?
What has Fuckegaijin become?
Why am I even responding to this thread (for the second time!)?

Fuck me senseless!

kusai Jijii -
So you didn't like the video , guess what dude...
the point was to show what I have done and how sucky it was ,to show where I'm coming from.If you don't like it theres no need to throw a fucking tantrum, so Man the fuck up and go bitch somewhere else. Thanks for taking the time to read this thread even though you felt it a waste of time , good day.

Jeez, I think everyone does a few of these 'projects' at one time or another .... here's mine.. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=NkinQstxs1I At least I have a real 'talento' spoofing himself. Btw - the camera and gear was a piece of shit something I dont know that cost less than 1 man. No greescreen and the opening sequence courtesy of the Chicken Man at Roppongi.

Where the fuck are you coming from? And more importantly, where the fuck are you going?

To be honest, if there is a point to this entire thread, it sure as hell escapes me.

So far, if I understand things, you want to make a movie, and you want to make it in Japan. Good for you. Your proposed movie even has a provisional title, and you bought yourself a camera. Well done. You quit your job. Ok. But thats about it.

You posted some shitty youtube link to show us "where you are coming from". You havent written the 'script/story' for your movie yet, but you intend to feed (but if I understand you, not pay) the actors in it, becasue the project isn't financed. Nice gesture there. You post on this site asking if anyone would like to get involved. Fine. Someone suggests you come back when you have something concrete to show. You post a youtube link about something else. It was crap (admittedly, you did warn us, but it was oh sooo verrryyy crap). I threw a tantrum. And for some fucked up reason, I'm making my third post on this thread. I must be sicker than I thought. Anyway, good luck with everything. No hard feelings.

Pre-cut VFX Content for new Demo Reel

Postby Luciddreamer » Sat Jan 31, 2009 12:05 pm

Hey folks back again , so I managed to get the vfx stuff done for that 3rd of my short that I filmed , unfortunately quite a chunk landed on the cutting room floor due to poor planning. This is what I have so far , I cut it into a demo reel ( the shot breakdown for which will be done in a day or so) I will be filming the pickup footage sometime in the next month so that I can complete this portion of the short. Thanks for taking the time to check it out guys & gals.

The Thing

Postby Luciddreamer » Wed Mar 04, 2009 7:46 am

Well I gotta say thanks for the views and comments folks (even the indifferent and negative),I have been doing alot of Research and Development the bulk of which lies in my 3D work(and I checked the requirements for a filming permit and they're not unreasonable at all),I'm still going forward with this project pottering along each day.I'm going stop posting here now and with leave from the admins( if you'd be kind enough to let allow if of course) link those of you who are interested or even morbidly curios to my new 3D materials and vids (Surviving Tokyo Related and not) at these locations. Thanks again for your time folks and I hope you have a great day.
