Skyperfectv

Postby canman » Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:31 am

For those of you who have either purchased or about to purchase a new HDTV, please take note. I bought a new plasma HDTV with the built in BS and CS tuners, and I also purchased a HD DVR which also had the two tuners included.
I was under the impression that the old skyperfectv service was going to the same way as analog tv, phase out in 2011. So I took down my skyperfectv parabolic antenna and put up the new joint BS/CS antenna. Contacted skyperfectv to tell them about the new system and that I wanted to join.
Long story short, SKyperfectv has two seperate companies, the old Skyperfectv and this new E2 company. They are essentially the same company but for some reason offering different products. My other assumption was that the new service would offer HD programming. Anyway, after all that, I found out that the old service is not ending, and that the new E2 sucks. They only have about 35 channels and charge the same as the old company. Their homepage is only in Japanese, and they have no English customer reps working the phones. I really can't understand what they are doing over their, but I would think long and hard about changing service anytime soon. The only advantage is being able to use the on screen guide to record, but that seems to be a minor convenience compared to losing quality.
Does anybody know much about this company?

Nah, Canman most likely uses SkyPerfecTV to watch their 30+ channels of foreign programming (Japanese programming on satellite is even worse the the offerings available using a free antenna).
And yes, the new E2 company is cruel joke with limited foreign programming.

PS: Hey Gaspard de Coligny, welcome to the FG ship of the damned.

Right you are Taro, as usual. I was able to watch a good number of NFL games this past year on two of the channels. My kids enjoy watching 24 and Lost and some of the other American dramas on Fox or AXN, and it doesn't hurt their listening comprehension, so I don't have a problem with that. As for Japanese TV, try to stay away from it like the plague. Kills brain cells faster than a Red Bull Martini.
