[/floatr]Satoko Okazaki, who was known by the press as the "Japanese Comăneci" when she competed in the Montreal Olympics in 1976, has been arrested once again for drugs. After retiring from her sport in 1978, Okazaki helped promote aerobics and appeared regularly on television until the birth of her first child in 1984 after which she retired from the entertainment business. In 1995, she was back in the limelight when police found marijuana in her car for which she was given a suspended sentence. However, she was caught in possession once more during the suspension period and so served eighteen months in prison during which time she went through a divorce. On her release from prison, she went to work, perhaps inadvisedly, at a medical supplies company and was arrested for a third time on drugs charges in 1999 which brought a twenty month spell in jail. She remarried when she got out of the clink but, in July 2005, Okazaki, was caught in possession for a fourth time and received a two and a half year sentence. Seemingly determined to undermine the government's statistics on recidivism, Okazaki, now 48, has been arrested for a fifth time. She was driving with a male friend in Nakano ward, Tokyo when she made a right turn without indicating. This was spotted by a patrol car which then stopped her for questioning. Okazaki, known by her married name as Nakajima, began acting erratically so the police asked her to accompany them to the station where a search of her car found eight small plastic bags of drugs on the back seat.
