School Was Cheating On English Tests For Years

Postby Mulboyne » Mon Mar 02, 2009 6:34 am

Yomiuri: School admits leaking Eiken info since 1995
Ikubunkan Middle and High School in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, which had until 2002 been coaching students to pass the Test in Practical English Proficiency, or Eiken, after seeing the questions in advance, admitted Saturday it had been doing so ahead of each of the thrice yearly tests since about 1995. The school made the admission at a meeting with parents on the day. According to the school, teachers including former Principal Kazunori Horikiri, then an English teacher at the school, opened envelopes containing questions and held special courses based on the questions for 20 to 60 third-year students at the middle school and first-year students at the high school ahead of each test...The 40-year-old mother of one student at the school said she was relieved to hear that the school no longer cheats...more...
