I don't think there was a mystery about its whereabouts, as they had film of it being tossed. It was just locating it in the river, or even having the desire to locate it, that precluded it from being hauled to the surface.

True, indeed. It served as a good excuse for always being in the cellar, however.:p

According to the Yomiuri, the water he was found in was only 1.5 meters deep. That it still took a diver to spot him says a lot about how filthy that water is.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

I remember the news interviewing people who had jumped into the river after the Tigers won the Central League (I guess as it couldn't be the final championship) and they said they got really sick.
Maybe the Colonel's curse is why they got spanked so bad by Lotte in the the Japan Series a few years back. Chiba swept them 4-0, and outscored them 43 runs to 4 runs. Ouch! (But Chiba had a little fog help in one game)
Go Chiba!

Maybe they should dredge the river more often they`d probably find bin laden in there.

Some are now calling for the rediscovered colonel to be put on display at Koshien baseball park. KFC has agreed to go along with the plan if Hanshin wants to do so.
