TAXI FAIR

Postby davesco » Sat Mar 14, 2009 6:48 am

I will be arriving at the tokyo station with the nozomi Shinkansen from fukuoka with some luggage and need to go to a hotel near the akasaka-mitsuke station. How much would a taxi cost me approx? It seems a little bit complicated by subway (no direct sub from tokyo station?) Any help?

There is a taxi fare calculator here (Japanese)

It estimates that, during the day, you can expect to be charged between 1,440 yen and 1,610 yen for that journey depending on traffic.

At night, the price range would be between 1,840 yen and 1,970.

However, the Marunouchi subway line goes directly from Tokyo Station to Akasaka Mitsuke with a journey time of less than 10 minutes and for a fare of 160 yen. Taking your luggage to the Tokyo station taxi stand is only marginally nearer than going to the Marunouchi line platform so, if you are on a budget, you can save yourself some yen by taking the train.

EDIT: from the address you give elsewhere, your hotel is no more than a ten minute walk from Akasaka Mitsuke station. You could walk it in five if you knew exactly where you were going. It is, however, an uphill walk so, if you are loaded down, you might think a door-to-door taxi would be better. If you aren't in a hurry and don't mind carrying your bags a short while, take the train.

Tokyo metro (many of these lines go much farther than the map):

Good luck.
