Fuck yes. Japan just scored 2 points off Ichiro's hit.

The second runner went to second on "fielder's indifference" according the Yahoo! report. What the heck? Korea is the home team; that run was huge. Anyway, 5-3, two outs.

Now I have no idea what is going on. Ichiro apparently took third on "fielder's indifference" and now I can see Nakajima did the same. Is the catcher now an amputee? Bases juiced, two outs, 5-3.

Oh yeah. 5-3.

This is still anyone's game. South Whorea is still a great threat to Nippon nida.

Very good game. Ichiro finally came up big. That's two in a row for Japan.

I guess people were speculating at 2ch that even though Japan won, they will stick both Nippon and Chon flags in the pitcher mound as a sign of good gesture.

Expect to see some Whorean Jap-bashing, shit-talking, and other sore loser unsportsman-like conducts in the next few days.

Anyway, congrats Japan. 5-3. Exciting finish.

Next WBC, hold the semi-finals in Osaka and Nagoya and the finals in Tokyo.

Unlike Koreans, the Japanese do not suffer from a national inferiority complex and you won't see them over-compensating with stupid acts like sticking the Hinomaru on the mound.

Yeah, Japan got that out their system decades ago, Korea just wanted to know what it felt like.

Nope Take. Hate to bust your bubble, but he wasn't throwing at him. One, it was not the situation because Ichiro was on third and the Koreans didn't want another base runner.

Also, look where the catcher was set up. When they go after a guy, the catcher sets up more inside to make it look like the pitch just missed the target inside, instead of trying to plow the field with the dude's chin.

That wasn't close to being intentional. If he's going to send a message, the ball will be up near the shoulders, at least. Plucking a guy around the knees does nothing, well other than put him on first.

I still don't understand why Korea was letting Japan take all of those free bases.

That was strange. When Ichiro was up, they let Iwamura take second. After Ichiro was on, they let him have third.. There was another one but can't remember..

Korea has now invented base 'giving'. :p

Some of the comments are interesting..
Yeah - you're an idiot. Sunday's game wasn't only a painful commentary on the state of American baseball - but American culture. Fat, slow and lazy is only the beginning. Total disregard of fundamentals is the story. We're stunned that they actually run to first base rather than half trot while pouting that they didn't hit it out of the park? Yeah - that's how you get on base - thus get in scoring position - thus score runs - thus win ball games. Put the ball in play and don't make errors - brilliant. Nothing fancy - nothing extravagant. We're only interested in the big play - that's what we pay for - which is why players are only interested in their own success - which is why there's no glamour in winning as a team. Self absorbed greed over what's best for everyone. Sounds a lot like what caused homebuyers to overextend - and mortgage brokers to give them loans - and banks to pass out equity loans. We're simply entitled - forget the fundamentals. Sunday was an ugly picture of how bad we're losing the game.

Bullseye

I only got interested in the WBC this year after the US was eliminated.

I am tired of hearing the excuses for the US sucking ass in the WBC. Players' contracts are guaranteed, so who gives a shit if they get injured in the WBC? Yeah, the owners.. Selig was doing an interview during the game and he said that pratically ALL owners are on board with players playing in the WBC. I don't know how much of this is true, but that throws that excuse out too. Why wouldn't you want to compete for your country anyways? Rollins is a freakin' pimp, nuff said.

Don't forget that a lot of these teams don't even have a "minor" league, so that excuse is out the door too..

I still think even IF the US had their "best" players (which quite of a lot of them are not even from the US) in the WBC, they'd still get waxed anyways. The Asian teams play small ball and do the little things to win. Hit, bunt, walk, anything to advance the runner. Solid defense. Solid pitching.

It happened in basketball for the longest time as well. The US just needs to put a TEAM out there and quit making excuses. That fat ass idiot should be shot for standing around and giving up on that fly ball the other day...
