Is that all they're charging for beers in Tokyo these days at the so-called high-end joints?! Hell, a lot of places out in the sticks charge more than that...guess it's to pay for the ambience, what with the grease on the walls and cockroaches cleaning up the scraps!

Good book on why these guys ended up at the Pink Slip Party:

Video from WBS showing the Pink Slip party. But it is all about the "New Rich".

Sorry - I couldn't work out how to embed this style of video.

What's funny about all of these articles about Heartland is that they make it sound like some kind of ultra-exclusive night club where only the super rich could afford to play. In reality it was just a crappy bar with decent prices for the area and a nouveau riche faux art deco interior that bankers happened to go to because it was convenient which in turn attracted headhunters and over the hill former hotties hoping to land a rich foreign dude. I remember going to an East Japan JETAA function in the "VIP" section. Seriously, how hip could a place be if the JET Alumni Association could party there?

Originally, that was the appeal. As you mentioned, it was cheap, convenient, and location, location, location.. 500 yen beers, strong mixed drinks, and sluts. Why is this a bad thing? ;)

Roppongi Hills Club, the six months it was open, was the fucking shit though!.. Again, cheap alcohol, younger sluts, and location (where Banana Republic is now). I never encountered attitude from anyone in that place. I think because it was so spacious..

Yeah, that's all well and good. It's just that if you'd never been there and read one of these articles you'd think that Heartland was where millionaire traders drank Courvoisier out of supermodels' assholes or something.
