When we were courting my wife looked so cute I could have eaten her.

Right with ya on that Cranky. That same era, mine was some sort of a beauty queen. Weighed out at 49kg. Last week, two separate tribes of cannibals dropped by the house and wanted to bid on her on the hoof....

I guess it works both ways though.
A few weeks ago we were reminiscing about those days, and I asked her if she could go back in time, which day would she choose to revisit.
Straight away, she said, "Oh, the day you proposed to me, of course."
I smiled at her, and then she said,"So that I could tell you to take a hike!!!"

I would say the average women I've seen married to a gaijin was no prettier or uglier than the average Japanese women. I think one of the issues is that a lot of Japanese guys think that every gaijin (read white man, since that's usually what they mean) is a Charisma Man stud in Japan and could land Fujiwara Norika if he wanted to.

Another issue is that a lot of time Japanese guys and foreign guys have different standards of beauty. I was at a friend's house party earlier this year and one of the guests was a Japanese girl who was a stripper with huge tits and a nice round ass. Every gaijin in the room was picking his jaw up off the floor while all the Japanese guys thought she was "too big."

Of course there is a fair percentage of gaijin guys that think every women in Japan is an excotic beauty, will walk into a bar full of 4s, 5s, and 6,s and see 8s, 9s, and 10s and go on about how hot all of them are. Don't get me wrong. I'll bang a -15 with enough booze in me, but I'll never claim she looked like Norika.

Yeah, but in my opinion the 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s in Japan are much better than the 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, in America.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.

Mine used to be great, but I'm not so sure nowadays. I don't see her much anymore. Most of the time she's out with her switchblade trying to hop in cars with guys she met on deai internet sites.

SJ, the context is/was from recent conversations that have come up in my neck of the woods..
My other half, her family, their friends, co-workers and the likes..

I'd never until now heard of this topic.. so came here to ask.

• Japanese men are narrow minded / only looking for 10s.
• Japanese men think Gaijins are open minded / big heart - can accept all types and shapes.
• Japanese men prioritize looks, where as Gaijin focus on personality.

You've probably over-generalising. There are always certain people that does particular things or have particular preferences but that doesnt make them the standard.

This type of categorising makes me feel ill. :shake: :shake: :shake:

You are talking about people here!! Thinking somebody a "4" or a "10" based on looks alone (hello!! genetics people) just cheapens both yourself and them.

And at the end of the day, who the fuck are you to be making such judgements...

Sorry for rant - not directed at Bo-sensei per se, just this sort of locker room speak gets pretty old in mixed company.

Sorry, GG, but that's the way most guys look at women at first. Obviously, once you get to know someone there are other factors that come in, but if there isn't the first spark of attraction, nothing else matter.

I haven't heard of this topic as such, but I think we can look at it from 2 perspectives:

1) (the one that has so far been presented here) that Japanese men are more particular than gaijin;

2) (and I had a Japanese guy actually make this argument to me once) that no goodlooking Japanese woman would ever need to date / marry a gaijin because she would be able to attract as many Japanese men as she wanted.

Personally, I'm not buying either.

The truth is that Japan is a racist society. (no shock to anyone here)

In my experience, only a Japanese girl who has given up on attracting ANY Japanese men into her life is actually comfortable being close with foreign men - in public. The rest of the girls are quite attuned to the fact that Japanese men will think MUCH less of her for hooking up with a foreign guy.
Japanese guys are all friendly to us until we snag their women through their ineptitude - then they turn into these back-stabbing fear-mongering insecure assholes who make their own women feel terrible for it.

Most J-girls seem to think that if they're seen to be involved with any gaijin, NO other Japanese man is going to want to touch her, and her reputation gets "stained" somehow. Since women are looking to maximise their attractiveness to all men - gaijin men are too much of a risk to be seen with, especially on an intimate level - especially the more beautiful the woman, the greater the "risk" of being seen with an ordinary gaijin - at least in on a serious relationship level.

The exception to the rule seems to be the English-speaking J-girls, and eigo bandits. They're pushing themselves outside the bubble of Japanese public opinion - which they are doing either by learning English in the first place, and by spending a good deal of time abroad.

Thing is, most Japanese women who aren't interested in foreigners feel much more comfortable complying with the social norms of their own society, and eventually marrying a Japanese man in order to "fit in" like she is told to. That leaves us dirty gaijin being branded as "slimy woman-chasing ladies men" - which is exactly how we get treated for a short while until the J-girls manage to snag their Japanese salaryman.

I never came here to become one of those panty-chasing men, but I've certainly found that by dropping my moral standards has assisted me romantically here. Accepting the fact that J-girls will use me for their own curiousity sex before ditching me means I get more action.
Most J-girls just don't want to be seen dating me in public, but have no problems coming over for the horizontal mamba out of the public eye - before throwing me away like a dirty whore.

That description reminds me of what I saw during my time in Kyoto--28 year old women who dressed and acted like they were 58.
